Care to elaborate? At Huddersfield Billing had some of the best defensive numbers in the league. Last season he played further forward and contributed to 12 goals - was a real attacking threat. Now it might be a domestic player bias and I’m not that familiar with Thorsby but Billing isn’t bad by any means and if he moves this summer will definitely go for a higher fee than the £6m discussed for Thorsby.
Be surprised if Sema goes, unless we really struggle to get rid of the deadwood and the likes of Gray and Success are still here by the end of the window
I enjoy watching Bournemouth get beaten, so would say I've seen plenty of his below-average, lazy performances. He's got decent feet for a giraffe, but doesn't do anywhere near enough. Apparently Norwich are in for him, which would be ideal for us as he's an expert in relegation.
Not massively enamoured with signing Thorsby. And would hope for better if we are cashing in on Hughes. But I wouldn’t go anywhere near signing Billing.
https://m.sampdorianews.net/amp/pri...sby-il-punto-122336?__twitter_impression=true Giaretta has gone on record denying our interest supposedly
Yup just read that. Hopefully means Hughes is signing his contract offer. As for Billing, he has his moments and can be very effective it just seems he doesn't do it enough.
Always looked like an odd deal when Giaretta suggested we actually wanted a midfielder with PL experience. Matty Longstaff incoming...(I hope not).
Watford transfer windows are such emotional rollercoasters. We get linked with someone I've never heard of, I'm initially sceptical, I allow myself to be convinced that they are exactly what we need, then it turns out we were never interested in the first place, or that we were put off by the selling club's demand for actual money. I still believe Josh Doig would have led us to Champions League glory and nobody can convince me otherwise.
Giaretta (can't remember his first name) has said we're not interested in signing that player from Serie A. Cristiano? No, Morten Thorsby.
Just read The Athletic's article on Steve Cooper leaving Swansea - they seem pretty certain Grimes is as good as gone too. Wonder if we might rekindle any interest...
I liked the idea last season, but that was more out of panic than anything given that Hughes was out for a considerable length of time! Can't see him being good enough for the Prem, hopefully we won't go down that road
And it's Goodbye Morten Thorsby Who can hang a fee on you? When you sign for bloody Burnley Still I'm gonna miss you
I have to say I was quite impressed with Billing towards the end of last season when he was playing a more attacking role for Muff. I don't partially like the guy, but I think I could warm to him if we brought him to WFC.
I thought Grimes ran the show in our first game against them last season (albeit we were terrible). Tbh I don't think there's much difference at all in quality between Hughes and Grimes. I'm also not convinced that either are good enough to be starters for a team serious about not being relegated from the PL.
Hughes only came on in the 90th minute, it was Chalobah in his carthorse phase, and Cleverley, who's never been as effective in a deeper role who started that day. Hughes may not be any better than an average PL player all told, but he was decent for us in the seasons before we went down, and when we did, he certainly wasn't to blame, but I doubt Grimes has that in his locker at the highest level
They’re both easily good enough to start for mid-table sides when you see the nonsense knocking around in this league
I just want to know how he is going to balance playing centre midfield for us as well as playing Norwegian PM Jesper Berg in Occupied. https://www.netflix.com/title/80092654?s=i&trkid=13747225
I wasn't using that game to directly compare how Grimes and Hughes performed when on the pitch together, but rather just to point out that he is a player who has displayed a good level of quality against us.
