I don’t think people really knew enough about Bayat and his role at the club for a long time but certainly what we know now doesn’t paint a good picture and certainly understand the concern of many . We haven’t recruited well , spent a lot money on agents and now got court cases/ investigations hanging over us .
There is no way any of us are going through seven pages, but all posts that started the non-topic row have been removed. Please guys, I know this is a sensitive topic but please can we keep the discussion related to the thread and not one about going at eachother's throats for the smallest thing. Like has been said many times, if you have an issue with a member, put them on ignore and PM one of us. If anything like this happens again on this thread, it will be removed in it's entirety.
I’ve been ‘away’ for 2 weeks and a lot threads have descended into arguments. So at least we can now dispel the accusation that was always levelled at me that I started all the arguments… I’ll await the apologies There’s always been a number of people willing to engage in it…on both sides!
No, he’s not one of those arrested. Though in searching for more info I found this article which says the Rennes public prosecutor opened a file against Bayat back in April. https://www.insideworldfootball.com...inal-probe-belgian-football-agent-mogi-bayat/ Still, we all know Meester Mogi is just an agent, nothing special, basically means nothing to Gino. So it’s all good.
So Mogi is basically out there doing transfer dealings for us. Not just an agent (which is hardly a surprise). God help us.
I'd be interested to know how far this is from the norm in top level football. I think we know that in general things aren't as clean cut in football as Duxbury or Nani (or Giaretta/Giarldi/Manga) personally fronting up every negotiation or deal. It's rammed full of murky intermediaries doing business on behalf of clubs, players and god knows who else all the time. That said, it's poor from a personal perspective to farm out giving the bad news to Troost to Mogi.
Being told that if he could agree personal terms he could go doesn't sound like too much in the way of escalation, as obviously he would not have agreed personal terms.
To recap, Gino explicitly denied there was anything special about Mogi at the Parlaci and that, just like any other football agent, we may use him from time to time. I will happily condemn the Pozzos if they do something wrong, but I have to say, the willingness of some people on here to assume they've somehow got their business closely intertwined with an agent facing some hugely serious criminal accusations, when there's absolutely no evidence of it, is quite alarming.
Just one player's account. I'd like to hear from some other sources before I rush to judgment about our vile, chaotic cesspool of a club.
Some would have been quite happy to see him go tbf but no doubt we did it in quite an aggressive way?
It's also further fuel to the fire that they flat out lied at the fans' forum when they said he's just another agent. Not that further evidence was needed.
That whole thing was back scratching exercise to be honest. I fully supported it however, and I am still glad it happened, but nothing has changed. It was all waffle and hot air about the things we really wanted answers for. Finances, management turnaround, agents etc. Treated the whole attendees as puppets end of the day. Scripted answers no doubt. Am I surprised? No, but it would be been nice for a bit of truth and valid communication between the people who run this club and the loyal fans' who support it.
Have to wonder what the foundations are made of right now, which are hopefully "stable" to hold the club above the abyss....
Whatever happened to the people on here that used to vigorously defend this relationship with threats and name calling to those of us who called it out? Did they all conveniently ‘fall out of love with football’ at the same time as being proven categorically wrong yet again?
Did anyone ever "defend this relationship with threats and name calling" ? I thought opinions ranged from " slightly uncomfortable" to "utter fury and assumed unseen benefits" ? I've always assumed that Pozzo believes he gets a good deal from this otherwise why carry on, but not sure why he does. Not sure why anyone is upset about the above clip from Troost ? The club accepted an offer, it's not like he had to go there if he didn't want to ?
You’re not sure why fans are upset that a player has publicly stated that an agent, who the owner has said is ‘just another agent’ despite various crimes being levied against him, called said player up to tell him he was available to leave the club, despite the player having no links to the agent and the clubs saying he’s not an employee? Honestly, hand on heart, you can’t understand why fans would be upset at that? Just a thought, that maybe it has nothing to do with whether the player ‘had to accept’ or not, or whether the player was any good at all - but everything to do with the fact it shows a total lack of class and respect to club employees as a starter for 10.
Honestly, no. Why does he need to be an employee ? I effectively run our company with another director who is a consultant rather than an employee. Would you have been upset if he was advised by any agent acting for the club other than Mogi ? Do you think the coach or Pozzo should have told him ? Well, maybe...but maybe the fact that we employ a "coach" rather than a "manager" means that that type of communication falls under the recruitment/agent dept rather than the coaches resp ? Not looking to pick a fight, I just don't really see why it's a problem.
God, we really are classless and just vile as a club aren’t we? Rather be in League Two than be owned by this shady *****. **** off Gino.
Nah, not interested in a fight. I guess another point that could be raised is the fact it would appear we were nudging a player (and perhaps his family) to accept a move to Russia who were on the brink/in the midst of war - likely because we wanted to cash in on another Bayat brokered deal. It just stinks to high heaven quite frankly. He’s not ‘just another agent’ and shame on anyone who even remotely believes he is. I do agree that there are some things that fans want to hammer the club for regardless of whether it’s Gino etc - because it’s a stick to beat them with. Not that I care because the burden of weight is against them now…however, on a human level, this looks very much to be a case where the club and owner deserve to be hammered IMO.
If another club makes an offer that's acceptable then I've no problem with the club accepting it and telling the player, but I'm pretty sure they'd have realised it was v unlikely he'd agree to go there and they'd have no ability to nudge. .... but it was a clear sign that he wasn't required so would have been upsetting for him, a watford fan, whichever club it was ?
I can't see the full article so not quite sure when the alleged call took place, it mentions the World Cup break in November but not totally clear how late after this the call was. The Russian invasion ("special operation") began 24 February so the timing of the call would have some bearing on how much a suggested move to Russia really stunk. I think it is flawed to argue that it was obvious in November/December that Russia was a bad egg who was definitely going to war and I doubt most footballers were aware of this. For the record I think it's poor form if Mogi made the call and don't condone this. However, not totally sure either way from what I read above how much the war context is relevant. Don't know the full facts though.
