We'd be in the play-offs had we kept Rajovic and not loaned in Jebbison instead.

Tbh, it's hard to imagine that Raj wouldn't have added 5 or 6 goals from the bench at least.

3 of his goals last season were from the bench (24 appearances), plus one on the opening day this season (3 apps), so I struggle to believe he'd have got that many. Think Bayo's lack of goals probably inflates people's opinions of Rajovic, and while at the time, I seem to recall I was nervous about loaning him out given our options, if we had Rajovic now, Doumbia wouldn't have got an opportunity, and while Doumbia hasn't scored yet, he's made some telling contributions against Sunderland and the scum that neither Bayo nor Rajovic would have come close to emulating

Deeney loves us so much he's coming back for a final swan song to replace Bayo for the entirety of next season. Not only that, he's pledged to rob Pollock of any captaincy by claiming the armband again, creating a toxic atmosphere and making sure his voice is heard above all others.

A no hoper who can score who's left, a no hoper on loan x 2 this season, and an unknown.

    GREAT!

Raj is terrible. Just because Bayo is unlikely to score 15 league goals this season, should not be taken to mean Raj would have changed our season. Hopefully we will not see either again in a Watford shirt after May this year. I would prefer bringing Zinkernagel and Healey back.

Zinckernagel absolutely (and while we’re at it, that other former ‘Orn who scored against United, Matty V!), Healey isn’t pulling up any trees in League 1

No, come to think about it, if I remember correctly I think he was used on the left in a similar way to how Chak and Vata have been utilised, but I did rate him, not the most prolific, but very creative and was very useful in the run-in. If we are comparing him to Chak, certainly not as all-action as Chak, he wouldn’t take the ball from nowhere and bring us to the edge of the box, but I remember his final ball being pretty good

He just seemed to play for a bit under Munoz then get dumped and sent out on loan never to be seen again.

    Classic Pozzo I guess .

I liked him, but I never thought we’d see him in the Prem, I suspect half the reason we signed him was because he was available on a free, Pozzo truly outdid himself there!

Absolute dog turd, awful footballer who people bizarrely decided to pretend was good after he left.

Another laughable signing in the first place. Bye.

You can't really compare Premier division and Championship goal returns however if you are not prolific in the Championship then you have to offer other values to the team which seems to be the bigger issue .
That said, Doumbia has shown promise in that department .

I believe Rajovic's goals per minute suggested he’d get 20 goals if he played across a season. They’d be ugly horrible goals though that shouldn’t really count.

I guess he would get a few chances if teams used him literally as a target man whipping balls into him but that isn’t us too often .

We’re too busy trying to walk the ball in .

"I need to turn control of games into wins..."

Won't happen until we get a half decent striker. But in the mean time freezing out one of our only attacking players in Vata is not helping matters either. Louza and Vata are the only two capable players' of scoring a goal out of nothing or creating a chance themselves. Bayo tried it against Oxford and ballooned it over the crossbar. Goals are not going to come from Kayembe or Sissoko or Chak. Play Bayo with Vata as a false two if you have to. It's gotten that desperate until Baah and Doumbia return.

Rajovic may be a good finisher, probably the best finisher still contracted to the club, but it’s a damning indictment on him that Bayo was deemed better at helping us control games, how many times has he come on the pitch and actually improved us? Even in games where he's come off the bench and scored in (ie Millwall at home last season and away on the opening day this season), he's merely got us back to the same position we were in when he came on, and against West Brom he even scored to put us 2-0 up late on and we couldn’t even see that out. Thanks for the goals Mileta, but we need to forget about him, a full season of Doumbia will be far better than either Rajovic or Bayo

There have been a number of games this season where Rajovic would have had an impact and most likely made a difference. Millwall and Oxford recently come to mind.

There’s no doubt he is technically limited but he’s a good, chaotic option to turn to when we’re chasing a game and I do think Cleverley choosing to die on the hill of not calling him back is a bit odd.

  24. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

    Hogg-DEENEY!!! First Team

Not odd at all, it’s easy to remember the times he came up with a late goal to earn us a draw or a win, but what about the goals we conceded while he was on the pitch because whatever control we had of the game when Bayo was on we almost immediately gave up? You talk about him being an option off the bench, but of all times he's come off the bench, only against Blackburn did we actually end the game in a better position than we were in when he came on. There are a lot of problems with this squad, but Rajovic is not the answer

Should of really pushed and got Dennis back. I know it was never truly on the cards but even so had you given the choice of us or Blackburn I am 99% sure he would of chosen us. Despite his ego or whatever it was holding him back, he was/is much more of a complete centre forward than Bayo will ever be, going purely on how bad he has been in front of goal.

Not sad we missed out on him, and he was clearly never fit during his second spell with us despite being here for months, but he was the best striker at the club at the time

Dennis would have been an abysmal signing. More bookings than goals at Blackburn so far. He is one of those players that attracts excuses from fans for some reason but he showed nothing in his last spell to say he would be worth signing again.

I'm sure someone will find excuses for why he has been crap at Blackburn. I work with a Blackburn season ticket holder and he is far from impressed with him.

Fair enough and respectful comment. I guess maybe for myself and others is nostalgia talking over "how good he used to be" during his initial signing before he went to crap. I still think he's a talent but obviously his focus is not where it should be during games.

The first half of his first season he was good and fun to watch. But the second half of the season he was awful and played for himself, and he carried that on when he was with us last season. If he could rediscover how good he was initially then he would be a no brainer but that hasn’t happened with us, Forest or Blackburn so far.

Striker needs to be top of the menu in the summer.

Dennis has been good for one half of a season pretty much in his entire career. Was probably not fit. Don't think he's benefitted from Big Val being at Blackburn instead of Eustace.
I would have kept Rajovic as he offered something different to Bayo and new where the back of the net was. Not the answer to the current problem but certainly better than Jebbison was

I agree he certainly would have been another option and got some goals but probably would have been useless in other areas of the pitch .

And we don’t get crosses into the area which is what he would want most .
