http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Layún 26 year old Mexican defender. Can play left back or right back, 22 caps for Mexico (including playing for them in all their group games in the WC over the summer). Signed for Granada today, rumoured to be coming here on loan (although i'm not sure about that considering the amount of loan players we have). Will be our 17th different nationality within the team! Obligatory blurry youtube video with terrible sound-track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6JbKf6NPuU
https://twitter.com/HeathISF/status/550056847206793218 "For those who have sent me messages... Granada signing Miguel Layún will head to Watford on loan until the end of the season."
Probably means either one of (or both) the Bassong/Guedioura loans aren't gonna be renewed? Seems like he's a popular guy in Mexico...he has 1 million twitter followers!
Must be very confusing for Granada fans, keep being told that they are signing players to then lose them the same day. This certainly sounds promising, if not a bit over the top: http://www.latintimes.com/three-reasons-why-miguel-layun-best-overall-player-mexico-269413 Reading the critical comment below, we at least know that he is very quick, athletic and has a good work rate. I reckon his agent told him that if he signed for us, he would be playing at Stamford Bridge extremely soon...
Oh my... the Mexican leagues goalkeepers are atrocious. I think I'd be more impressed if the video was a 5 second club of him outjumping Kenwyne Jones on a cold Tuesday night in a muddy field in Rotherham.
http://www.insidespanishfootball.co...-international-layun-and-loan-him-to-watford/ That's 6 loan players again......unless one or two of our other loanees become permanent. No problem with a work permit though as he holds a Spanish passport, and our next opponents, Chelsea, were also tracking him before he signed for Granada. Sounds like a bit of a coup that he has signed for us for the remainder of the season. Here are his top 10 goals:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfkINaln9OI&app=desktop He can certainly hit the ball and goal number 3 is just....wow. Look him up on Twitter and he has 1 million followers and right now he's trending in Mexico at number 1. The fans just love him over there.
Sounds promising. Herrera has Mexico playing a form of 5-3-2, with Layun as a wing back or aggressive fullback. Should fit right in with us, and will hopefully teach Parades how to pass and cross.
Boy has he got a shot on him! 6 goals in 11 games for a full back is very good. Yes the goalkeepers in that video were pretty bad, but still with a shot like that I'm sure he could trouble some goalkeepers in this league. My only concern is whether he'll get caught out too many times going forward and will be a weak point that oppo teams focus on to counter-attack. It is good that he has a good work rate but so does Paredes as well...
From this article, it seems quite promising. http://www.latintimes.com/three-reasons-why-miguel-layun-best-overall-player-mexico-269413 Good news IMHO.
Google translated his tweet: Thanks Granada gamble for me, all the fans I can assure you that proudly defend these colors ! Does he think he'll be playing for Granada?
His move to Granada was confirmed by Club America's Twitter - Official Miguel_layun is new player GranadaCdeF Spread your wings and fly high! - he certainly seems highly rated and from what's been written about him, it'd certainly be good to see him staying in yellow. As a couple of others have said, I reckon it's more likely that a loan will be made permanent than a sign that neither Bassong or Guedioura will stay. Wouldn't rule out it being either Tozser or Munari, both of whom I often forget are on loan anyway. Transfermarkt have him down as a left back, makes sense that we'd be looking for someone to compete with Pudil as I don't think I'm alone in not seeing WB as Anya's best position. Pudil/Layun for LWB and Parades/Juanfran for RWB next season, or will this just be a one-season move?
Look at facking Udinese B just casually adding a Mexican international to the squad with minimal fuss.
It sounds like Granada are in need of a left back so I don't know why they'd send him here unless the ultimate aim is to bring him here permanently. Probably only if we go up, same with Vydra I guess.
Lol Pozzi's haven't felt the need to tell him that he's got to play for some tinpot team on the outskirts of North London.
If he comes here, Granada fans must ask - what the **** do we get out of this relationship? Perhaps they'd like Lloyd Dyer in return?
I think Granada will have its fair share of reinforcements, as they need them given their shaky position in Liga. But their problems seem to be more in "constructing play" as they score so little. I guess the scouting network will find some good midfielders or strikers for the cousins. Meanwhile, WFC has a player quite appreciated by Mexicans fans for his force of will. According to several articles: good as LB or RB or LWB or RWB, excellent defender, good passing, with a good shoot and a knack for the goal. Sound quite good. And in many photos he has a beard almost Cassetti's style! :jumping1:
It seems a lot of his Mexican fans are looking forward to him facing Barcelona and Real Madrid. I'm assuming they'll be asking what a Huddersfield is in the next week or so.
