Plenty of people have done well in their native country or other Latin countries but failed in England. Ask Spurs or Manchester Utd fans. Or Watford fans who remember Fabb or Neuton.
They flopped at a lower English level than the continental one they had established themselves at, is the point. On paper they were far too good for the championship.
Did they though? Fabbrini was, at best, established in Serie B. Neuton was established in Brazil, at a stretch.
Fab did enough to be called up for four time wc winners, Italy. We all know what level Brazilian football is at. It's surpassed only by German third tier and Dutch academy games.
By my estimations, we now have players who have played top level football in 22 different countries. 16 European leagues, 4 in South America and 2 in Africa. We've recently lost one European country, Hungary, but we do Also have two players who played in Argentina up to the age of sixteen, and a player who plays international football for Scotland. We are getting nearer to world domination!
Patagonia is a huge region, and Welsh in spoken only in a single village I believe (Not the whole region).
They speak Welsh in a number of villages in Patagonia, particularly in one inland areas to the west of Puerto Madryn. The British Council fund a Welsh language teacher (or did when I visited the area some years ago). I visited Trelew and Gaiman, where welsh was definitely an everyday language. I was told the language was spoken elsewhere. The only thing that I found odd was that the language teacher that was there from the UK when I visited was called something like Hamish McTavish!
They do indeed speak welsh in Certain areas of Patagonia, Trelew being one such village. Well thats what it said in the British Airways magazine I read on my way back from Norway the other day!
I'm not sure that's set in stone but it's very likely. Fifa's own article about the Britos move even mentions the ban and IMO we'd be foolish not to take that into consideration.
Would give him 2 more weeks to settle in..he wouldn't be an automatic pick anyway I guess for the opening match?
I'd rather have Angella. Sure he may not have much top flight experience, but I can deal with that in our third/forth choice. Also has potential far beyond that of Britos.
Can we really afford to have someone like Britos in the squad who clearly can't control himself? We might as well have Barton as well!
I'm not aware of Britos having a particular reputation for insanity/indiscipline over the course of his fairly extensive career, but his last two games have been sheer madness, is this some kind of extremely late stage teenage rebellion?! I would like to refrain from making any snap judgements, especially as this is literally his first game for us, but he certainly appears to have let everyone down for little discernible reason. I hope his issues with temperament don't become a permanent problem.
The fact that he's only had 3 or 4 red cards in his 10 year career won't prevent the 'knee jerkers' and the 'armchairs' going into meltdown on here and ' Enjooooy the Game '
Remarkable that 50% of his red cards EVER should happen in consecutive games. What are the chances of that happening, as Harry Hill would say.
There's only one way to find out! But that would result in another red card so best he just accepts it.
I don't think its a question of boo boys or morons. At the time of his signing, it was quite reasonable to discuss the headbutt incident. Quite fairly, people pointed out it my have been a one-off and he'd be starting afresh with us. But on his first game with us, he gets sent off, and even if we win the appeal it will most likely still remain a sending off caused by two yellows. Luckily last night was a cup tie and not the heat of a vital PL match. I'm sad that at first the deal mooted was he and Inler, but the latter is now at Leicester while we seem stuck with a player who MAY..stress MAY..turn out to be a liability.
