I wasn't sold on him in the slightest based upon what I had seen, but this season he has been excellent. Long way to go yet but he's off to an excellent start.
I think there’s a few people being proved wrong by Pollocks performances this season. I include myself in that group and am delighted he’s proving me wrong
Excellent chipped assist for Bayo’s GOTS contender. The boys got developing talent. The more he plays, the better he gets. TC naming him as captain also says something of how TC views his leadership qualities. Well done Mattie, especially in the face of all your naysayers on here.
I understand the commitment similarity but they are totally different in skills. Both great team players.
It's good to hear some of you eating your own words. Yes he did have a shocker against Millwall but everyone has a nightmare now and again. He's made a position in the back three his now by merit and fair play to him. Obviously loves it here and now he's be given a decent run under TC he's showing everyone what he's about. Long may it last.
When comparing their level of ability and potential when they first signed for us and made their debuts, I'd have never said that Pollock would go on to be a better player (imo) than Ben Wilmot. C'est la vie say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell.
He is in the early running for PotS already that's for sure. Been a decent Captain when offered the chance and the fact he can carry off the "Terry Butcher" head bandage and still play at top level proves how far he has come. I don't think any of us thought he would improve his general play so quickly and maturely. He's first on the team sheet for me at the moment. Enjoying his football and it shows.
Yes he really seems to care which shows in the celebrations when we win, he is on a relatively low wage, hopefully the likes of him and Bahh will earn themselves better contracts next time they sign them, Ngakia is paid 6 times what he is which doesn’t seem right! (Ref capology)
Whisper it quietly, but I couldn’t have been more wrong about Pollock. His performance in a Millwall game a couple of years ago wrote him off in my eyes, but now i’m convinced he’s the second coming of Maldini. And there’s me wondering why the club put my CV in the bin when applying for a player scout role…
Pollock is proving me wrong, as has Porteous. Cleverley seems to have coached something into Morris too. Thank gawd Sieralta is as bang average as I always thought.
Just don’t play Porteous at right back ! Sierralta been ok but has been caught out by a lack of pace more so than Pollock and Morris have .
Having a very good season so far. Along with Baah is another one who I hope we're already working on extending their contract.
Agreed. Full credit to him as I really didn’t think he’d make the cut here but he’s been very reliable this season.
Love his passion, really has become a solid starter for us. The first few pages are hilarious reading.
His development has really been quite unexpected. Didn’t look like there was much to work with in the first few years he was here, particularly when it came to his lack of pace and agility. Fair play to him for sticking at it and working on his game, and fair play to Cleverley for trusting him and giving him the opportunity to nail down his spot. A real positive to see how he’s grown this year.
Just looking at my own posts on the first two pages, I presume you mean hilariously accurate reading?... "Some of his play reminds me a bit of Harry 'slab-head' Maguire, both good and bad - very solid in the air and crisp in the tackle, but slightly prone to flat-footedness. " "Pollock could well turn out better than Wilmot long-term anyway." "He'll def be at least a solid Champ player imo, but it's the major question mark as to whether he has the potential to be one good enough for a promotion-winning team and even the PL. Unlike with Wilmot though, who I stated that I never thought would be a PL player, I reckon there's at least a very slim chance with Pollock in future."
Good job he stayed I say! So far .. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...acement-kept-pollock-watford/#comments-anchor
