How would people we suggest we deploy Deeney, Ranegie, Abdi, Fessi and Vydra then? All should really be starting at this level. It's a lovely problem to have to be able to rotate Deeney/Vydra/Ranegie and deploy Abdi behind 2 strikers I'd say? I'd like to see Fessi play too though. What a problem to have.
Keep your hair on Malteser, I did read your whole post! Don't you know that means I am only joshing with you :rolleye1:
I wasn't prepared for how happy I'd be when this was announced. Although the move seemed to make sense for all parties, I was sceptical simply because in football the most sensible outcome isn't always the one to materialise! Now it is official it becomes clear just how strong our side is going to be. A spine of Gomes, Angella, Tozser, Abdi, Deeney and Vydra has to be one of the strongest in the league when all are fit and firing. Add to that Fessi and Ranegie for options up top, and Anya and Paredes for pace and power on the wings and you've got a ridiculously exciting side going forward. Of course the Tozser and Paredes deals are still to be announced and it is crucial we keep those key players fit, but there's every reason to be optimisitic about a promotion push next year. Can't see many sides bettering that roster on paper.
Talk about throwing down the gauntlet to championship defences :fighting1: fighting talk !!! Nice one Deeney!!!
Today is a happy day....cautionary tales of Vydra losing form, Sannino being a journeyman, unknown quantities of Gomes at this level, Dyer maybe too old, or Cathcart was crap last time....blah blah, are just not needed today. We've got a 25 goal a season man on the books in Deeney, we've now got another 20 man season on the books in Vydra, we've got wonderful pace on the wings in Dyer and Anya, we've got Abdi....or should that be WE'VE GOT ABDI, we have Fernando Messi Fessi Forestieri, we have the cultured Angella, we have a former Brazilian international in goal......bloody hell.....we are little Watford....bloody hell. Pinch me....is this a dream....please. We have a very strong likelihood to sign even more players like Tozser and Paredes.......plus others of a similar quality. If anyone cannot get extremely excited by this.....even for a day.....then I just do not get it at all.
But you felt to be-little my balanced comment rather than reply to the point I made! I'm very excited about Vydra coming back. One of the best players I've had the pleasure of seeing. The more I think about it, and the more excellent posts I read like the one below this from zpms6, the more I think he will be a huge success next season.
The two sides of MV have been mentioned before, however several key things have happened since and I feel it is wrong comparing him with 2012/13. He came to us as an unproven prospect in probably a three month he was getting very well known. It is understandable that the attention he received in January, magnified by his agents greed, was enough to turn his head. Even more so considering his injury history and rapid elevation to being known. He likely left us due to a promise by our owners of PL football 13/14. For whatever reasons that season was more a learning curve and probably reality check for him. It is also more than likely that having been given his chance of PL, it was also agreed that if things did not go to plan then he would return to where he was getting his career started. It is also more than likely that a caveat to his loan has also been agreed depending on our seasons success. I do not think he will ever love this club as openly as FF, but I do believe he has returned more motivated knowing that we can be used as catapault for his career. He also returns to a team with much more potential than the one he left (even if it fails to achieve it) and he returns with a another season of English football under his belt. He has purchased a house, which is also a good indication of his outlook. Much better than stopping in a hotel, which stinks of how much of a temporary moved this is seemed. My final thought on this is the indication at the end of last season how much Gino et al seemed even more determined to learn from mistakes made. If it was me, I would take some convincing that the player I am sending back is one who could make a difference for all the right reasons, not the wrong ones. Welcome back MV, all we ask is however long you are with us, you give us something to cheer about long after you are gone
Going by how happy Troy seems, I'd say this is also a strong indication that he has no intention of moving any where either. I'm as happy as a happy bloke who is really, really happy. :jumping1:
I suppose now it'll mean teams will man mark deeney and vydra out of the game and sit deep and we'll fail to break them down again.
Elated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a joke mate....maybe you're too sensitive for a forum sometimes. I knew amongst the Vydra excitement, there would be a cautionary tale from you. It just made me chuckle and I had the image of your missus buying you an iPad on Christmas morning, and you saying "this is a lovely iPad darling, but it may break in 6 months time....do you have a guarantee?"
Coming from a media background, one tries always to be balanced. I love Vydra. I never got on his back here when he was having a bad run. Others on this forum did.
It's all well and good - let's just see if he can do it on say a cold November afternoon in Leeds or a December in Middlesbrough before we get too excited.
How many defenders do these teams have? I'd rather teams sat back in fear rather than attacked in knowledge of our flimsy defence and toothless attack.
I think there is a danger of expectation going through the roof. That said I think we should start planning now for premier league football
