Apparently we made an offer to sign lemina in exchange for a Watford player but was rejected.

Good, an incredibly mercurial player who hasn't done any good for any of the other Prem clubs he's signed/played for. Think he's one of those cases where people still see him as 'promising' when he's actually turning 28 in two months.

 

I heard we tried to swap him for Papa Gueye.

 

I'd like to think we offered them Gray as a laugh.

 

Soon enough we'll have a thread for every individual player who was named in that list leaked in the Baah photo.

I don't think he's been great either for Saints or Flam, but we were interested in him before he signed for Saints so it's not a big surprise if we still are. Would love to know who we offered in exchange.

 

He is okay - just nowhere near as good as he think he is. I think Fulham fans were broadly fairly happy with him.

If lose Chalobah and Hughes and we need to bring in bodies I can see it making sense but not sure other than that.

 

65k a week at Southampton apparently.

Think that would need to drop considerably before any deal would get off the ground.

 

Was excellent for Fulham last season. If like @Burnsy says RE his wages, would be a welcomed edition.

 

The Athletic this morning again saying we, along with Newcastle and Nice, are strongly interested. Southampton are asking for £8m for the overall deal (inc any add-ons) and talks are labelled as 'intensifying'

Hassenhuttl impressed with his attitude since returning this summer - but the idea has always been to move him on with less than a year left on his contract, and as such, he hasn't been given a squad number.

 

If we could get Lemina to replace Hughes that would be excellent business. Even better if Hughes stays of course.

 

Seems odd that Soton would want to move him on if he did so well at Fulham. If it's due to his £65k, well he's not going to get close to that with us surely. Don't understand why it would make sense for club or player to move from Soton to us. If he's not good enough for a struggling Soton, why is he good enough for us ? If he's just too expensive for Soton, he's too expensive for us.

 

Not when you're paying in crypto he's not.

 

I would much rather Lemina than this Tborsby fella.

 

This report screams Southampton briefing. They’re desperate to get rid of him but want to spark an auction.

 

Why are they desperate to get rid and if they are, why, and why would he be great for us if Soton are so keen to have him gone ?

 

They have better players ahead of him?

 

So not good enough for struggling Soton but great for us ? Which "better" players ? I would get it if we were talking about a top 10 side but this is Soton who were freefalling last season and Lemina was apparently great for Fulham ?? Doesn't make sense for him to leave there and join us. If it's all about the money, he would get a better reduced rate at Soton than from us, surely ?

 

But he might not want to stay at Southampton for a reduced rate after they were happy to ship him out on loan? Maybe he just wants a fresh start. And I suspect we have been in contact with him before which may be of benefit.

I get where you’re coming from but I don’t think it’s as black and white as that.

 

Sometimes a face doesn't fit at certain clubs under certain management. They're purely trying to collect money in to do their own business, it doesn't make him a bad player.

It just seems strange that he's not good enough for Soton but deemed a good signing for us. Or if it's a financial matter, he won't get a better deal with us.

I'd be similarly confused if we were excited about signing a Burnley or CP reserve to replace Hughes.

 

We wanted him originally from Juve before he signed for Saints, wouldn't be surprised if we're back in for him now

Pape Gueye. Wow. If he ends up becoming a top player (and clearly he’s excellent for his age) last season’s relegation will prove real sliding doors moment for us/him.

I do think someone in that ball winning mould is exactly what we need as a lesser side. Thorsby seems more of a high energy presser, but I’d rather have someone hoovering up loose balls in the defensive third and Lemina is clearly v good at that.
