Surely could get a striker in at least . Poor Doumbia will have to be on his own up front against 3 of the best teams in the league with no real EFL experience. Good luck to him and hope he isn’t judges too harshly!
No one will judge him surely? And I would play him for the rest of the season to get some experience under his belt . What is the point of persevering with Bayo ? He offers very little and is off in the summer . FTR Vakoun is a symptom of some of our problems and not the cause
Well you’d hope so but some football fans can be quite reactive . Agree on Bayo but the manager likes him and can see the guy being back next season !
We'll all judge him surely? My point is he's unlikely to be incredible at his age and experience. But hopefully he takes the chance and is ok. Better be, as it's him and Rajovic next season...
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion on Raj, or any player for that matter. Raj is not a graceful player by any means but he does an uncanny knack to poach goals when we need them. Especially if the ball is delivered into the 6 yard box. Millwall when we let a 2-0 lead slip for example. Bayo does not have that knack. Yeah he scores the occasional good goal but 9 times out of 10 he misses . In contrast, 9 times out of 10 Raj scores Bayo’s missed header on Saturday and outcome of the game is different. I also doubt Raj would have reacted to Marcondes‘ provocation in the same way as Bayo.
Runs into the channels, control, compleyed passes, put defenders under pressure, tried to get across his marker in the box and very unlucky with the header but didn't sulk and was first to the ball to win the penalty. Excellent display and so refreshing to see a forward work so hard in every department.
Good to see him grab his chance with both hands, offered so much more than Bayo. If he keeps this up for another two games I cant see how Clevs can stick Bayo back in.
He also made some good runs in the box when we were passing the ball across the pitch about 35 yards out in front of the Sunderland defensive set-up. No-one really tried to pick him out, probably because they couldn't believe those runs were actually being made. But it certainly pulled their defenders about.
One of his biggest strengths over Bayo is how he can bring others into play. He's got a bit of pace to him and although he is yet to score I think this will come sooner rather than later. He works hard and clearly understands when to run and when to hold, which is a hard attribute for any striker to learn well. He is raw, your correct, but experience can only help him develop into a decent player.
If whoever instigates chants these days hasn't already started working up a version of 'Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)' which would largely involve singing exactly the same syllables in exactly the same pattern, their hallowed bunker should be confiscated forthwith. Watching the esteemed fellows of the 1881 chorus writhe and twist in the style of Pixie Lott as they belt out their siren ode to our new super striker, or, day I say it, fox in the box, would undoubtedly strike fear into and bewitch our opponents in equal measure.
