Let's hope so. Having to go another 46 games with Bayovic is terrifying as a prospect and we haven't even kicked off yet at the Den.
Given the wording I would assume it means that Rajovic did qualify in the end for being converted to a non-wildcard squad place? As from my calculations we probably didn't qualify for more than 1 spot.
Really interesting move. I’d assumed he was considered too raw and would go on loan somewhere that would help him get a work permit. Surely this means we plan to use him?
Maybe this means we won’t now be bringing in a striker? Surely he’s too raw to feature much if at all this season ?
Thought I read that Kayky may already qualify so didn't need to be used on him, if IIRC? \ Think its a good move, his style of play with the 10's behind him are tailor-made for him to get goals.
Interesting, it does sound like we plan to use him, can’t say if that’s a good thing or not because we’ve never seen him! I wonder if he featured in the BCD games we’ve played?
I guess if our "new striker" would only have been a raw prem prospect, with no guarantee of success, who we would be developing for another club, maybe it makes sense to utilise and develop our own raw prospect ? Really no idea how highly rated/ready he is ? Or maybe TC demanded that we use him rather than utilise any of the £30m transfer kitty ? Maybe this gives us more scope to strengthen elsewhere ?
Don't really see this as "good" news at all, couldn't be more of a punt having seemingly never even played any senior football even in Mali. Fingers crossed they've unearthed a gem but going to be a monumental step up from playing underage football in Africa to the Championship. Maybe he's really, really impressed in training though...
Well it’s good news if you rate him based on what you’ve seen so far, as I do! But yes I totally agree it wouldn’t be good news if it means another striker doesn’t arrive too. I’d still be surprised if that were the case, but you never know with our shower of **** do you. My ‘good news’ referred really to the fact that we will be keeping him this season, rather than sending him on loan. So we all should all get the chance to see if he’s any good. It wasn’t a wider comment about how it affects other incomings.
A player without a work permit needs an ESC slot to be sent out on loan domestically - so there's still potentially a chance he goes out on loan. Clubs can also loan players who they own within an ESC slot to other clubs domestically. However, that player would take up a slot in both squads (https://analyticsfc.co.uk/blog/2023...be-guidance-opens-up-recruitment-post-brexit/)
Thanks @reids. Apologies for my lack of knowledge on the subject. I assumed it meant he’d be staying.
Tbf, I only learnt that about 20 minutes ago! Since the club announced that we'd used one on him though, I would say it's more likely him staying rather than going out on loan.
Wouldn't it be fantastic if him an Baah end up being THE striker partnership of the championship. I used the word fantastic, because in my heart of hearts I know this is totally a fantasy.
I'm in. Five goals in League One and no senior appearances in Mali but if we just believe hard enough... #whatif
So now this has been sorted, where the hell is Kalu? Where is Hurtado? Where is Asprilla? Yes we know there is transfer speculation on Asprilla but atleast let us know what is going on. The season starts next week FFS
Kalu was pictured yesterday at LC, Asprilla afaik is still our player right now but who knows for how much longer (be it terms with a club not sorted our a U=turn) as for Hurtado, not a clue!
Was talking the capitalised 'THE striker partnership of the Championship' to mean they would be a resounding success, in which case we would have to cross our fingers (and toes)...
'Watch out, or you will be wrecked on the Doumbaah!' *(Yes, I'm obviously aware that reference has already been made in this thread, but this time it actually works )
Presumably both Kalu and Hurtado, given their complete absence from all club media on twitter, are both being lined up for loans away. I would have though that Hurado might have had a look in given how thread bare the squad is.
