Well done again today. A second goal for us. He’s starting to add goals to the other skills that have impressed us since he began starting matches. Pleased for him again today.
He seemed to feel the back of his left hamstring slightly just before he went off. Don't think the sub was related to it, just coincidence. Certainly didn't seem distressed bt it. I don't think it was anything serious but one of those things that makes you worry.
Definitely going to be a very good player. Does everything I want from a forward and has now got a couple of excellent goals. Looking forward to seeing more of him and Vata developing. Shame he wasn't on the end of the header Kayembe missed first half.
Must admit whilst he has done well (although not according to one bloke on the WO site ) was surprised he got Young player of the season ahead of Baah.
I don’t think you could argue that Baah hasn’t been more influential, but I feel Doumbia, a teenager fresh from the Malian league, fits the ‘spirit’ of what a YPOTY should be
Some saying he ought to be sent out on loan . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...feels-part-something-watford/#comments-anchor Well maybe would be if we had a number of decent options up front .
Called up for Mali U20 for the prestigious Toulon Tournament from the 2nd-15th June, not sure if it's got a UK broadcaster yet but it's always a fun tournament to watch, one of my favourites (although no English team this year). Be interesting to see how he gets on!
I find this difficult to believe. Can someone get an AI or a Kindle to watch this for me and summarise? Thanks.
Highly doubtful but, Burnley supposedly willing to spend €10m on Doumbia with a 20% sell on clause. Offering a 5 year contract. https://africafoot.com/mamadou-doumbia-cible-par-burnley/ A young star of Malian football, Mamadou Doumbia, is attracting the attention of Burnley. The newly promoted Premier League side are reportedly close to signing the 19-year-old striker. Trained at BlackStar in Mali, Doumbia joined Watford in the Championship in June 2023. At 1.92m tall, the Bamako native is considered one of the biggest prospects in Malian football. Although he was little used last season (19 matches, 2 goals), the Malian international is attracting growing interest from a club in the English top flight. According to sources close to the player, Burnley, who have been tracking him for several months, are reportedly making moves to finalize his signing this summer. The English club reportedly submitted an offer including a five-year contract, with a transfer fee estimated at €10 million. A 20% sell-on clause for Watford is also reportedly included in the agreement.
€10M for Doumbia would be quite remarkable business - I don't believe the source but would have no problems if we sold for that price.
Absolute tosh. Be funny if true as would bite their hands off for that but not a chance this has anything in it at all
Made up news from another wannabe Romano character. Pozzo knows the value of Doumbia as with Pedro will only increase with an impressive season in the Championship. I am very confident that Doumbia has all the skills, speed & also a little more strength to bag at least 10-15 goals this season. He is a real talent & it was another nice scoop to get him.
Yes seems so . https://x.com/Adam_Drury1/status/1945404068597215406 Agree they obviously rate him that much and can get more out of him .
Absolutely crazy to turn that down if it is true. Even though WO reporting it I still find it unlikely
Absolutely barking mad to turn that down. On the flip side, if we rate Doumbia as more than £10m that what would Louza’s asking price be?!
Seems there was no bid at all .. https://www.burnleyexpress.net/spor...-doumbia-amid-ps10m-rejected-bid-talk-5228103
