I’d say they have the hallmarks of a side heading for relegation.

    - An away record that makes ours look like that of a promotion chaser
    - Three points in 11 matches since their last win, a last gasp against a Derby side, the only team in comparably bad form
    - Two points and three goals in home games against Norwich, Preston, Millwall and Plymouth and an away game at Oxford (where they lost despite leading twice), while not getting many shots on target either (barely laid a glove on a Millwall side that were later thrashed by previous relegation certainties Plymouth)
    - Yes, they are still only two points from safety but Hull have a game in hand and apart from Derby the other teams at the bottom are picking up unexpected points, Luton are doing the opposite
    - Teams that have just been relegated tend to do OK at least no matter how bad they’ve been the previous season, but there have a fair few that have gone into freefall and been unable to arrest a losing mentality - Wolves, Sunderland, York, Carlisle already look doomed to non-Ieague this season after being promoted from the same division just two seasons ago - a stark contrast to Stockport BTW, the side they beat in the League 2 play-off final, who are now comfortable in the League 1 play-offs.

Luton have been relegated five times to four different levels since I became a football fan. If they do go down it’ll be up there with the best of them (along with 2000/01 and 2006/07 - I actually felt sorry for them in 2008/09 because I thought the 30 point deduction was a ridiculously harsh punishment), for several reasons:
    (1) They took our manager who in the end will have been indirectly responsible for them going down to a level we haven’t played at for nearly 27 years, particularly sweet after all this fawning only last season from the media and other fans alike about them being a “joy to watch” and “belonging at the top level” just because they were a bit of a novelty act, ran a few top teams close and got a few surprise results, even if they weren’t all at full time (remember them going 3-0 up at Bournemouth?)
    (2) It will show that despite them being supposedly a well-run and progressive club with a good team spirit in recent years, they haven’t lost their propensity to **** things up in spectacular fashion
    (3) They beat us 3-0 and still went down (I think they’ll stay up if God forbid they do the double over us this weekend).

I think in hindsight it actually shows Edwards heavily over performed to get them up (they would’ve been top two on a PPG basis based on his tenure) and then to be semi competitive in the PL, at least a little bit more so than our last showing. It’s not like things have suddenly improved since he left. They were not a top 2 championship team when he took them over, but they performed at that level for a while before declining to their normal level.

They have been unlucky based on xG. They haven’t got the results they should have based on the chances they have created and conceded at each end of the pitch which suggest they should be above us in the table. Bad finishing and clinical opponents? They were clearly the better side against SU and Plymouth but didn’t get the wins. Hopefully that run continues on Sunday.

Hull and Cardiff who are directly above them , not including Plymouth , have a game in hand .
Which is played next midweek between themselves so either one of them picks up 3 points or they
both gain 1 a piece ! . Similarly Cardiff and Plymouth meet each other on Saturday !. Happy days !!

With the top three or four racing away, there are fewer points available for the rest.

Yes Adebayo has the worse xG and most missed chances apparently.

Certainly a far cry from when he was being linked with other PL clubs last season .

    Yes true .

His replacement scored the other night so probably be a sub Sunday .

Sure the club will be more careful not to hype things up so much too .

Can see them panicking and rolling the dice on replacing Broomfield with a Warnock type

If they don’t… it doesn’t look good. They were dire today

I hope when they go down, that we resurrect this thread again this time next year when they plummet towards League Two

Edwards stats were better than the new fella. Hope has happy he's left a promotion chasing side to coach the scum.
They were shocking and fingers crossed it keeps declining.

We showed them up to be the pub team they truly are. Imagine paying to watch them every week. I'd rather support the Red Lion Reserves.

Truly one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen at this level. What made me laugh was their fans who were left actually clapped them off. LOL

The bulk of their transfer spending has been on McGuinness, who was injured today. Jones, who was their best player today. Nordås, who caused us some trouble and almost got Ngakia sent off. Aasgaard who is a really bright prospect, but didn't have the best of games today.

All in all, I don't think recruitment is the problem and on paper they have a squad that shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom of the league. The problem is that they aren't functioning as a team. Given how poor the lower half of the league is I can still see them staying up, but they need to turn it around in their next game at home to Pompey, otherwise they are in serious trouble.

They are the worst I've seen this season. Truly abysmal.

It is also the most placid showing from them lot in a derby game I can ever recall.

We didn't make many January signings but the two we have seen are good.

They made a lot of January signings and they're all ****.

12 games left. I don't think they have the minerals.

Jones was good on the right, the new striker was useless however. Subbed at half time for a reason, looked an absolute donkey
