Then Bristol City (H) and Cov (H) - finish away at the Baggies. Tricky.

 

Baggies away will be an easy game. WBA will probably be in the PO places and resting players ahead of the PO SFs.

 

Or with WBA desperate for the 3 points that will nudge them over the playoff line.

Anyway, it'll be the shatters resting players. They'll have been mathematically relegated weeks before that.

Unfortunately they will stay up and the ageing ' Mr Punch' will do a geriatric jig on the pitch in celebration,other 'activities' being beyond him.

I know a couple of their fans . They have chucked in the towel already and are resigned to
relegation .

Based on the net xG league table (points impact of quality of chances created vs quality of chances created by opponents) they deserve to be 15th in the league, 3 places above us as we now deserve to be 18th !!! I'd be amazed if their luck doesn't turn and they don't climb up the table.

Yep. Our fans moan, but Bachman's saves and Bayo's killer instinct have got us baffling the boffins with our overperformance!

 

More to do with luck of our opponents missing plus a few Louza specials, goal direct from corner etc !

 

Interesting stuff, though what I feel is more in keeping with observed performances, is the end of season prediction on the same site. This has us finishing 13th on 61 points and Loo Town finishing 22nd on 47 points.

 

Yes interesting and I'll admit I have spent leas than 5 seconds trying to understand how they arrive at the s/e table, I guess they just bank the actual position todate and then estimate the final 1/3 of the season based on the net xG performance todate for the teams and the teams they still have to play. I think us finishing 13th, 8 points off the PO places sounds about right. I hope they are right about Luton, relegated by one point on the final day !!

If they lose at Sunderland tonight and Plymouth beat Millwall, they are bottom! What a fabulous season this is turning in to

 

If they win they are out of the bottom 3 .
TBF when the season started we thought we would be struggling against relegation, and ex prem Luton with their parachute payments would be pushing for promotion, hoping that they didn't make the top 2 so they'd only have a 1 in 4 chance of promotion through the POs.
Whilst last night felt pretty bad, the current league positions are better than many of us expected !

Post match reflections from Sunderland.

"When we played them ‘at the Kenny’ they were probably the second toughest match we’ve had all season behind Leeds. I’ve been baffled how they were so low in the league as i haven’t watched them other than the game against us.

Tonight though they looked absolutely shíte.

I’m a big fan of that tbh, I found their fans to be hostile petty little tw*ts. Giving it the usual boring “you think you’re bigger than you are” when they managed to scrape through the playoffs against our reserves.

I think we will beat them unconvincingly.

A nervy 1-0 where we are ****, but they are even ****er.

Christ I would like nothing more out of this year than smashing them 3-0 and sending them on their way down.
