It's probably pie-in-the-sky thinking to hope that if we did sell him for c.€20mil we would at least reinvest it in to getting another striker like Mitrovic or Morelos.

We dearly need a new striker. Move Gray on for certain. We'll look pretty blunt relying on Deeney and Welbeck again for next season. Stuparevic has barely played for Vozdovac. It's looking grim upfront especially as there are precious few goals coming from set pieces or midfield either.

Looks like this fella has just changed agents. No chance he's ever playing for Watford.

1 year left on his contract though, so plenty of leverage to force a move.

    Bring him here next season.

Keep him under wraps for months. Give him a run out in the 3rd round of the cup, where he shows a tantalising glimpse of some potential, whilst the settled first team are losing left right and centre and missing any edge, then bury him again, until March, when added time sub appearances culminate in just 2 touches of the ball, then loan him to Belgium because he wasn't ever going to make it here and the off the pitch scandal that unfolded in April means that he has an attitude problem, plus the interviews to Spanish media make it clear he hates us and wants to play in Spain.

Loan out to Segunda for 2 more seasons and then sell for 'undisclosed' £3m.

According to the Watford Observer (February) and The Athletic (March), his current contract ends June 2022. Watford supposedly offered him a new deal around this time but I haven't seen any confirmation of it being signed.

This is factually incorrect. Also, Cucho has far more to his game than Suarez. Can create, take set pieces, play in multiple positions and more tactically flexible. In terms of per game in Segunda. Suarez is 0.59 and Cucho is 0.62

Where are you getting those stats from?

    Suarez 18 goals, 34 games = 0.53 gpg; and 1 goal per 161 minutes:

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/luis-suarez/leistungsdaten/spieler/424784/saison/2019/plus/1#gesamt

    Cucho 16 goals,.35 games = 0.46 gpg; and 1 goal per 182 minutes:

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/cucho.../liga/0/wettbewerb//pos/0/trainer_id/0/plus/1

I agree that Cucho can play in multiple positions, but that doesn't make him a better Centre Forward, he is more suited to being a wide attacking player, or the deeper player/#10 in a front two, than a #9. Suarez is better suited to playing as a #9.

Also, taking set-pieces isn't really a top priority for attributes to consider as a CF, and he's not that great at them anyway.

FBREF - your stats are not including minutes played, just games played. Cucho has more non penalty goals than Suarez as well, despite playing on the right hand side. Cucho has 14 goals from open play in 2,896 minutes played - Was also 18. Suárez has 13 goals non penalty goals in 2,874 minutes, 3 years older than Cucho, and strictly playing down the middle. Both are excellent prospects - and should be given a chance next season under a competent coach.

This should say as well as on the right. 80% of the time he played down the middle

??? I just showed the stats for both minutes played and games played, and on both counts Suarez was slightly ahead of Cucho.

Also 3 of Cucho's goals were penalties, and 3 of Suarez's goals were penalties, meaning 15 non-penalty goals for Suarez and 12 non-penalty goals for Cucho.

Fair enough that Cucho was younger than Suarez at the time, but he hasn't progressed at all since then.

Interesting, but we need a goalscorer. So Suarez for me.

Cucho scored 17 in the league, 3 were pens = 14 non penalty. Suárez has 18, 3 penalties + 2 penalties that he’s missed and scored the rebound, so that’s 13.

  29. lowerrous

It seems there's only 1 penalty rebounds in Suarez's stats - though fair enough for. pointing it out. But where are you getting the Cucho 17 goals stat?! It says 16 right there in the transfermarkt link I posted.

What's the website? It must be wrong - every other source I've seen including transfermarkt and wiki have him down at 16 goals.

Also, earlier you tried to claim that:
"In terms of per game in Segunda. Suarez is 0.59 and Cucho is 0.62".

Even using those wrong stats 17/35 is 0.49, not 0.62.

Yes I was including goals and assists per 90 minutes. My bad

Also using transfermarkt for stats isn’t ideal. Using any form of stat that isn’t per 90 isn’t a good metric. FBREF is the leading statistical website in Europe for a reason.

  35. lowerrous

I know, and I already showed that Suarez's is slightly higher on that as well.

FBREF's summary page for Cucho's stats has somehow been added up incorrectly. If you look at the goals by match then they even show that they add up to 16:

    https://fbref.com/en/players/71b47ab9/matchlogs/2017-2018/summary/Cucho-Match-Logs

I cross-referenced it against the goals broken down by match on transfermarkt and they're exactly the same 16 goals:

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/cucho-hernandez/alletore/spieler/459463

I hadn't heard of FBREF before, and I'm not convinced it can be considered "the leading statistical website in Europe" if it can't even add up and report the number of goals scored in a season correctly.
