Wondered why he wasn't in the last few squads when he was previously a regular starter. Yeah must be a relatively long term injury if we've terminated it.
Hurtado loaned to Gillingham (League 2). Will hopefully be able to get a good run of games so we can get an accurate gauge on his quality, has jumped a lot between leagues without really playing much with makes it a bit hard to gauge where he's at. I know he was being offered to L1 clubs yesterday but guessing we didn't have any takers, but personally I think L2 is currently more his level, so fingers crossed he gets some gametime.
Don't know the lower leagues religiously, but I imagine L1 and L2 are largely similar style wise, if he's not got much football anywhere yet, it's best we guarantee him football rather than pitch him too high and risk him rotting. Look forward to seeing how he goes!
Another 2 goals for Shaq Forde today. Hurtado got 30 mins for Gillingham and their fans reckon he looked very lively.
I do wonder if the lack of signing a forward in the window was partly down to Fordes season at Orient (Hurtado less so at the moment!)
One of the things I like about the goals Forde has scored (it rhymes!) in his spells out on loan are the different type of chances he takes Today the intelligence of his movement before his first goal showed a good football brain. Created space by dropping deep, then moved in a way his marker wasn't sure where he was before a burst of pace behind him allowed for a pass he could run on to. And then an exquisite finish with his left foot into the far side netting. Gorgeous The second was pure poachers instinct (and some shocking marking at a corner). Two very different goals today to add to a nice array of finishes so far. Promising https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/13063557/leyton-orient-3-2-carlisle-league-one-highlights
Next season we get the real Watford back. Andrews, Abbott, Grieves and Forde all in the starting eleven, it'll bring a tear to my eye. Thank you Gino for making it possible.
A real shot in the eye for all those opposition fans who said we’d lose our soul under the multi-club ownership model! Gino just gets it!
Forde to be offered a new contract in the summer ? https://twitter.com/WD18Fans/status/1754600818571940224
I've not seen much of him, but noticed at the weekend his stats and the fact he is just 19. How good is he?
I think he'll be part of things next season, and whilst that'll be a promotion for him, I think it's a sad reflection of where our squad will be next year. I think he's a decent League One player, but I think he'll struggle to make the step up. That's just my personal view. He doesn't have great pace, and players like him need that in order to get ahead of next level defenders. Will he score goals? probably will get 2 or 3 in the Championship but I don't see him as being anything more than a bench option at best.
He's passed every test that's been put in front of him, which is as much as you can ask from a player of his age. When he was on loan at York last season, he came off the bench for his debut and scored. Started the next game, bagged a hat-trick then fluctuated between bench + starting lineup, until the final 10 games when he became undroppable and started pretty much every game. This season had a tougher start, mostly appearances off the bench (2 starts in their first 12 league games) along with a red card in the EFL Trophy that didn't do him any favours regarding getting selected, but again he's now proven himself undroppable (starting 10 out their last 12). His movement around the penalty area and his finishing are superb, he works really hard defensively (which will be a good fit for VI well if he's still in the dugout next season). He does struggle to beat a player 1 vs 1 which isn't ideal as a winger, but he's also often played as a striker and I can see him moving to a more striker role in the future. I've attached below a video of all his goals for York + Orient so far which demonstrate both his movement + finishing ability really well, it's noticeable in many of those goals how much time he has for the finish which is testament to his movement and reading of the game. So to answer the question - he definitely has talent, he's handled the jump from National League to League 1 with aplomb and I think he can definitely form part of the squad next season, which is great news.
Looks good! That's a lovely finish against Bolton, with the left foot. Seen some talk of him being back with us and a new contract being offered next season. Hopefully gets a chance if we're going to be focussing on bringing younger players through.
Main thing that I like is he’s not afraid of using either foot it seems. Can’t say the same about anyone in our current team..
If he can develop his positioning further and work.on his initial step and a few other things there is no reason.wjy he cannot do well at this level. Plenty of top strikers were not blessed with pace but were cle er in how they played off others. What happened to his supposedly more talented brother that the Woolwich stole from.rhe Academy ?

Hurtado Came on in the 86th min, the gills won 3-1 away to notts county and leapfrog them into 7th place (the play offs)
Making an early positive impression. https://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/2024/february/stockdale--the-lads-love-him/
Hurtado's made such an impression he's been left out completely from the squad against Newport today (Feb 17) The Gills twitter followers aren't happy, though that may be a permanent state of mind to be fair, I don't know (This isn't aimed directly at you wfc4ever, I've just linked the post where you've included the item about him making such a positive impact)
Probably but there was nothing in the match preview while other injuries were confirmed edit: my last word on the matter as it's not that important, turns out he's ill. I don't know if that's 100% accurate but it makes a bit more sense than being dropped after his 2nd half performance in the week
To be fair, he seems to have so little control over his legs he probably has trouble getting where he wants to go at the best of times, let alone getting there actually on time!
James Collins starts from the bench for Haringey Borough today (Feb 17), but the more interesting(?) news for their game is that Tommie Hoban is in the line-up against them for Hornchurch
Who's this Oxhey person? Bloody idiot, spouting all kinds of crap before anything is officially confirmed and giving the forum an hysterical air while all around them remain calm and level headed. Should be banned in my opinion Anyway, Hurtado now being reported as being injured in the post match Gillingham report. It must've happened late as he wasn't listed as injured or doubtful in the preview yesterday And Oxhey - I'm calling out your BS and have my eyes on you!
Think he's dropped to a level where there's no pressure on him to play, saw an article the other day that he's changed careers and is a financial advisor now.
Hurtado has a knee injury, sounds like a bad one. Such a shame, he needed the rest of this season to adapt to English football.
