So it's now a good couple of weeks during which we can bask in the glory of scoring five, and seeing another team sack a manger before we do, before proper football starts again. Why do the international breaks feel more frequent than the EFL season? The 25th November sees a Watford side unbeaten in 6 take on the table toppers Leiceste at the King Power Stadium A brief summary of Leicester: The Good The Bad The Ugly Leicester are the form team this season, topping the table with 39 points from a possible 48, picking up 13 wins and 3 defeats along the way, although they've lost both of their last two games 1-0 (to Middlesbrough and Leeds) They've changed a bit since their relegation from the Premier League, bringing in 43 year old Italian Enzo Maresca who used to coach Manchester City's U21 side. Leicester like to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, doing so in their last game at the Riverside. Hermansen (GK) Justin Vestergaard Faes McAteer (Issahaku 58') Dewsbury-Hall Winks Choudhury (Vardy 85') Mavididi Iheanacho Pereira C That's a lot of Premier League experience in a squad, and of course Hamza Choudhury has the next best thing in playing for us last year. Following on from the Rotherham game I would expect Bachmann to come back in, given his status at the club, although I would like Hamer to get another chance (and maybe an opportunity to have a shot to save). Leicester like to dominate the ball and they're a bit better than it at us (@reids you're welcome to try and follow that level of analysis) I think we need to try to limit their opportunities to turn us on the counter as pace is something we struggle with at the back, but if we can spring a quick counter we could cause them an issue. Leicester 2-1 Watford (Vardy, Choudhury (he has to), Rajovic) Apologies if this is too early for a reality check following Rotherham, but I can't get excited for England struggling to beat the finest of Maltese and North Macedonian football. And also @Filbert if you're reading this, I hope everything is getting better https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forum/1-leicester-city-forum/
Too early to predict and obviously lots can happen over the international break, injuries etc. Feeling good about it. Going for a cheeky 2-1 win, goals from Bayo and Rajovic. Hoping Vardy and Harry can have a bit of a scrap, feels quite overdue.
Alright chaps, I've been in a coma since September last year, I see we are playing Leicester in the league and Rob Edwards is a Premier League manager, that's good right?
Leicester have battered us in the past three meetings, but both squads have made big changes since we last met at the Vic under Hodgson in a terrible 1-5 surrender in our final home game of the season, Although to be our home form that entire season had been turd. Leicester have a lot of PL quality in their side and if wasn't for one of our ex-players scoring on the final day of the season (Doucs), Everton would of dropped instead of the foxes. A big club with a lot of history and a very big fanbase they have had their troubles on and off the pitch as much as anyone, with the sad passing of their old chairman a few seasons back. RIP x. What we cannot do is give them too much respect, like we did at Leeds. Give Leicester time and space on the ball they will hurt us. It might be a bit of backs-to-the-wall for 90mins. We are probably playing them at the worst possible time, fresh from a break and wanting to get back to winning ways, we would usually be the perfect opponents for them to do just that. It's not beyond us to get a point here if we setup right and are focused. Middlesbrough needed a wonder goal to beat them at the weekend so that proves how tough they are to break down at the back. Unless Sema can break a run through their lines and plate one up for Rajovic then scoring more than one here might be a tall order. I think though this could be the end of our little revival, but in no way should we be dis-heartened to losing to what is the best side in this division considering where we are right now as a club. I am confident we will bounce back if we do lose against Norwich/Hull. Foxes 2 Hornets 0 BTW Great write up @Hornets81, although seeing Lineker in his boxers is a bit off putting
When was the last time Bachmann cost us points this season? I can think of maybe one possible occasion.
My head says we will get absolutely battered and brought back down to Earth. My heart says exactly the same thing. Love being a Watford fan me.
Oh god, I can never unsee that picture of Lineker in his boxer shorts. Thanks very much Away win sees the Hornets continue their surge up the league. 0-1 Bayo scuffed mis-kick dribbles in
Not sure about this one. Common sense says a Leicester win but we've just started to look like a team that is getting to grips with things and half the team are starting to really believe in themselves. If we can stay solid defensively and our attack stays on the upward trend, we've got a chance.... 0-0
I can see Vardy flinging himself to the ground at the feet of our keeper to ‘win’ a penalty - as he usually does.
Vardy takes, Hamer saves.... Vardy follows in, Hamer saves again Absolutely astonishing Now here come Watford Sema Here's Livermore..... Bayo!!!!!! Over the bar
Have to say Ive never liked Leicester. Combination fo witnessing a lot of nasty racism when I was there for the opening of the Crisp stadium.
Very good. "You are really seeing one of the worst strikers in Championship History, it almost mirrors Andre' Gray!"
Actually, since it has become clear that he is hated by the Tories he has gone up a little bit in my estimation.......
