Part of me really wants to see what he can do from the start in his preferred position, but he’s really really good off the bench too!
I do not think Baah has the energy to start games in the way he impacts them, not yet anyway. He's full of energy and full of running - perfect player to bring on when opposition legs are tiring, he scored the winner today and linked up well with Chak.
Which is fine if your Man Utd and can afford to treat Baah like Solksjaer and bring him on when you’re winning, knowing he’ll get another goal to make it more comfortable - or if the scores are level but you’re battering the opposition. Bit the reality for us, is that we will rarely have those situations - so Baah, if he’s as good as we think/hope, has to show he’s good for 90 minutes and get more trust. We simply aren’t good enough to have a super-sub when the starting attackers are so bad.
Interesting Video further down the article of when he was a palace ball boy and caused a stir by placing the ball in the goal v West Ham Meet Kwadwo Baah, the Rochdale prodigy thriving in Sky Bet League One, following rejection from Crystal Palace as a 14-year-old. https://search.app/aJkmdRkqPz63QuDk8
Good work, was it you that found this? Fun thing to watch, and funny to see how he basically interviewed the same way then as he does now.
I’m sure this has been posted or at least discussed earlier on this forum, maybe not this thread. I remember this story from when we signed him.
Don't think it's that strange mate, just asking whether you saw it on a tweet or a reddit post or wherever else, which would just as easily have enabled you to post it, or whether you personally came across a random EFL website interview about a Rochdale player from three years ago!
I checked his goal scoring stats on Wikipedia and read how he was famous at 13 for his exploits, then saw the link to the article amongst the references. NB I had never heard the story in the past, it’s not often you get to see an interview of one of your players at 13/14
Fairplay, that's interesting - yeah, I certainly wasn't aware of any connection to it, maybe the slightest memory of a passing story of a ballboy doing something like that but not even anywhere approaching the mental real estate occupied by that Swansea belllend with Hazard.
Signed a new deal! 2029. https://x.com/WatfordFC/status/1847193399503270374?t=CihHBj1p4RuhOxtwuNClUQ&s=19
Excellent! He wasn't even on the radar for this season, yet he's been instrumental in winning the last two home games. I suspect he's going to be injured a fair amount given his style, physique and lack of game time so got to be patient.
Excellent news. Work on his fitness required but he, along with Pollock have been huge plusses this season
Brilliant news. Nice we are able to keep hold of a talent who wants to stay with us for once. I agree his fitness still needs work but he's a strong and viable option off the bench (which has been proved already) and keeping him fit will be crucial as he can be a real game changer. As much as others and myself would love him to start games he hasn't got that in him for now but perhaps in the future he can play for longer periods. It's all about building himself up and keeping him focused. For now however, just having him as a Watford player for longer is an exciting prospect.
Brilliant news!! Such an exciting prospect. And what's that about us never signing promising young players from the lower leagues?!...
Worth remembering when considering his fitness, that he was destined for a move to Man City before it broke down over a failed medical. Maybe he just has natural or longstanding issues which mean it will always be a factor.
Good news and should secure us a better price/higher sell on if we sell. As much as I think we'd all like to see him be a full, 90 minute man, it does look like there are some fitness issues there but Our Tom has used him well so far this season.
Yeah, all it means is we protect his potential value having found ourselves in a potentially precarious position - it's no Leo bellowing into a mic on stage at Stratton Oakmont, but it's good news all the same, because it had to be done and there's never a guarantee our stripey, high-domed outfit will pull it off. We have likely secured the lights staying on for a further year with this move, which is akin to a trophy these days.
For today's game I want him to start the match and then come on as sub around 65 mins to run at tired legs.
It was a lame joke about both wanting him to start because our two 'strikers' are gash, but also wanting to have the option of him coming on as a super sub like he'd been doing recently. Sadly it wasn't the worst joke of Saturday 19th as the team managed to beat it comfortably with their joke of a performance (I didn't see the game thankfully but when you've lost 3-0 to your rivals and half the forum wants the manager sacked and most of the squad to never be seen again, it's a safe assumption we were pretty bad).
