Sounds like he had another good showing off the bench? Could be one of the biggest pluses of the season if he establishes himself.
Gonna be hilarious when we do nothing with him for several years, and then lose him on a free transfer when his contract expires now that’s he’s finally showing real promise. Especially as we’ve been able to nail down contract extensions for the likes of TBD and Ngakia.
It’s going to be like when they were busy tying down Cathcart in cup final season but didn’t bother with Hughes.
When is he out of contract ? Was highly rated when he came but injuries haven’t helped him . Is showing why now .
Hmmm, might have jumped the gun here. For some reason I thought he was out of contract at the end of the season, but transfermarkt has it as 2026. Panic averted.
Oh no doubt, but I’d be certain we’re losing him if his contract was up this summer, whereas now the disappointment may be postponed for another 18 months!
Fair play to the guy who scouted him years ago When he's in full flow the only way to stop him is to foul him (or disallow a perfectly good goal)
He's 21 and played 60 minutes at this level before today, and he's already our hardest-charging battering ram of an attacking player who has the technique to boot. In terms of his physicality, he already looks like a man among boys at times, as has already been said it's very hard to get the ball off him, he's got genuinely effective tricks in his locker, and to boot he has uncommon nous for his age - he led the efforts to run the time out after the penalty, taking the ball into the corner and holding it up in a way we haven't seen since Troy. To be providing leadership in that way at this point in his career really tells us something about him, and combined with how he approached City midweek, it really seems like he has all the attributes to play at a much higher level, as long as he keeps developing.
Very quick and powerful which makes him hard to stop when in full flight, but he's also very fast off the mark. Twice now being quick from a standing start with not much pitch to run in to has led to winning goals - yesterday's penalty and Sissoko's against Derby.
Apparently, his stamina is not the greatest, which is why he is being used as a super sub, rather than starting regularly!!!
I would guess lack of game time or the muscle issue he had when he was injured for the Norwich game. He's not the sort of player we need long term out, so yeah man management is key for him.
Edwards ? Yes, but other players are just about recovered from the effects.... perhaps he has "Long Edwards" ??
I wish I knew? However, we have a myriad of coaches who are paid to work these things out!!! Hopefully, they are beginning to do so, as he has been brilliant, though only in short bursts, in recent weeks!!!
I think he's pretty much surprised everyone with his performances so far this season. I certainly didn't have him down as a game changer back in the summer (being honest, I knew very little about his ability). Got me wondering - reids - was there anything hidden amongst his data from his spells at Rochdale, D*sseldorf and Burton that hinted at the impact being made now in the Championship? Of course it's only been a handful of games, but he was also very good against City (not full strength but would still walk this division by a record points margin). His scoring stats are still low, yet every time he gets on the ball now it feels like something is going to happen. I hope it's not just some early season Ighalo-esq purple patch! Would be interested to hear your thoughts after looking at the data with your analytical eye.
I meant as our starting striker!!! Having said that, as many others have, he is not an out and out striker, he is an AMF!!! We don't seem to have an out and out striker, unless one of our youngsters can step up???
Just not sure his best position is a no9, better playing wide or behind a main striker ( if we had one)
Agree there . Mind you these managers do like to play such players up front . Obviously Jebbison is meant to be the one ..
