https://www.transfermarkt.com/konstantinos-laifis/profil/spieler/121570 Saw this on twitter can't find the link. At Standard Liege (with our old friend Obbi Oulare) and plays Centre or Left Back. Almost certainly rubbish. Seems a bit lightweight for the Prem but decent enough.
He's got the highest rating on whoscored for all starting CBs in the Jupiler Pro League last season, for what it's worth. His aerial stats and passing stand out at first glance. Maybe he doesn't seem the largest CB, but he appears fairly mobile and must have a decent enough leap to manage 3.5 aerial wins per 90 from a 67% win rate. He manages 8.3 accurate long-balls per 90, which seems very good, highest in the league in his position, plus 0.4 key passes per 90 which is also good. All while maintaining a decent 81.7% total pass completion rate. No highlights vid unsurprisingly. One goal here: Another at 3:30, good hit.
He is a decent player it seems, think he captained them too recently? I do rate him but I don't think he's coming to us. They seem to love him there. He's in the last year of his contract which has already been extended and I think he could do a job for us. But he does look slight. When I said "almost certainly rubbish" I meant the rumour. He seems a key player for them
A player from the Belgian league in the last year of their contract can never be ruled out as a rumour with us!
Laifis like a box of Leonidas chocolates - based in Belgium and sounds Greek, but you never know what you're gonna get (until you check their wiki page).
Spent 3 years as a youth at Nottingham Forest (not, as far as I know, linked with their current Greek revolution)...would he be considered homegrown
More on this fella from an old article https://thelaziali.com/2018/07/08/the-scout-konstantinos-laifis-the-star-of-cyprus/ Seems encouraging. Wonder if Levanthal can shed any light - he tends to respond to subscriber qs after his articles so will post one up when he next writes something " Strengths Somewhat surprisingly for a defender, Laifis has very strong dribbling skills with a career success rate of 87.6%. He also has an incredible 87.4% pass completion, and wins about 50% of his aerial duels. He is not afraid to take down a player, but despite this, he manages effective tackles without collecting too many yellow cards. In addition, he has around 6 interceptions a match. All in all, Laifis has some important tools that could be put to very good use for Lazio. Weaknesses While his strengths display great traits, Laifis has some areas that require work, one of which being an ‘average’ reaction time to fast-breaks. This is something that Lazio cannot afford going forward – many Laziali can recall the game against Red Bull Salzburg as an example of this weakness. Laifis also lacks a crossing ability, with only about 11% being accurate, and furthermore there does not seem to have a good sense of vision. Getting the ball to move up the pitch from the back is a valuable tool with Inzaghi’s setup and the fact that Laifis lacks the ability to do this, is a worrying thought."
It needs to be at least 3 full years prior to 21, it appears he did not quite complete 3 years before leaving again, so no he wouldn't.
