Agree, but for some reason Okaka is not in favour.
But to sell him to a 'rival' would not help us so if he does leave I hope it's to Udinese with an option of a loan back if he's needed.

I will admit I know hardly anything about this Samir fella but I respect you have mentioned him a few times so maybe you do. Although from looking across the Internet briefly, he didn't start Udinese's first game, got dragged off yesterday and wasn't a regular fixture in the side that struggled last season either. So I'm not sure that we could be stating that its a great 'solution' to an issue that Silva is obviously concerned about.

We need a back up or a better player. Are we sure Mason can't cover for 5-6 games a reason, leaving funds to be spent elsewhere ?

Never understood the logic of a player demanding the same wage that they are on at better club who no longer want them. If you were still worth that they'd put you on a new contract on the same wage or better. As it is they want to sell you and don't want you in their team. You are clearly no longer worth the wages you are being paid at the moment because the club currently paying them are not prepared to pay them anymore!

It is a joke. But not a surprise. In fact I'd say his attitude is the absolute norm for most footballers nowadays.

He'll stick it out at Arsenal on his existing wage then leave on a free transfer to a club able to pay him the amount he wants because of no transfer fee.

He must have seen our LB crisis and thought that Gino would be desperate

LBs are hard to find at the best of times. No good railing about Gibbs with the clock ticking. Also not overrun with suggestions on here. Britos and Holebas for different reasons are becoming a bit of a liability. I reckon Silva can take raw but talented player like a Samir and develop them. We need hungry players with Chalobah's attitude not some overpaid jaundiced and self-important might have been.

Seems strange to agree a fee without any sort of idea in mind of what his personal terms might be. I wonder if his agent has screwed this deal up and because of Britos and Holebas being ticking time bombs, added 10/15k pw more than what was perhaps verbally agreed at the the time the fee was agreed.

Gino wouldn't have wasted his time if he wasnt confident about a deal happening. The fact that we pulled the plug suggests that something was changed that was originally agreed in his personal terms. Obviously this is pure speculation and a theory but it wouldn't surprise me if something like this has transpired.

Really disappointed about this but unfortunately it does show the mentality of a player. I get it, he is use to a certain living style that might have to change on 10/15k pw less and he doesn't want too. However I would have thought with a World Cup around the corner someone like Gibbs would have been doing anything to play regular football to be on that plane.

Dealing with agents is like dealing with car salesmen. At some point you have to be prepared to get up, walk away and wait for the phone to ring.

I’d say this is dead in the water now. That’s twice the same thing had been reported. Only way I could ever see it being resurrected is last minute deadline day, either a loan, or permanent with Arsenal subsidising the deal.

However, I suspect Gino has pulled out now and said it was our decision - whilst Arsenal are doing a deal with WBA that includes Jonny Evans and Gibbs.

Yep can't see this happening now, if there were no other clubs interested then Arsenal might drop the price enough at the last minute so that we could stomach the wages, as it is if WBA are interested then they don't need to do that. I suspect as has been mentioned above something will be worked out within Evans going the other way.

Prime example of a money driven footballer who would rather sit on his ar5e getting his wages paid than play first team football. Considering that he isn't even that good a player , his wage demands are laughable. It surprises me that he didn't think that potentially playing first team football - based on Holebas always getting sent off - and playing well, leads to future england call-ups and another potential big money move maybe back to Arsenal or some other team?

It's been clear from the outset that this fellow is a wrong'un. I'm amazed the pozzos have spent so much time flogging this dead horse.

Give up the english player dream, and get back to signing unknown-but-ace foreigns. Thanks.

I think it all just highlights why this is probably very much a blessing in disguise. He's happy to warm the bench at Arsenal and won't take a pay cut to come to a lesser club and play regularly. Getting an England call up or playing for a better club is clearly not of interest to them, so you'd have to question their motivation once they or sitting on a 4 or 5 year deal earning £80k for club they have no interest in.

    Currently 3 options:

Arsenal get 7 million now and sell him to a different club, who will pay him 80k a week
Arsenal get 7 million now, but subsidise ~20k a week of his wages for the next 3 years - at a cost of ~ 3 million
Arsenal have him on the bench/ out of the squad and lose him for nothing.

If no one else comes in, from a top club I'd expect an all-round compromise from a well run club:
Arsenal sell him for 8 million, subsidise 20k a week of his wages but put in a 10% profit sell on fee, and Gibbs drops his demands by 5-10k.

    Sorted.
