Money spent = no guarantee of anything. Remember the money we've spent on some absolutely pathetic players? It's a long list.
Too early to judge. Pozzo has obviously taken the cheap route in opting for 36 and 35 year old free agents. Promising start for sissoko. Ogbonna yet to play. Let’s see if they have been good season long additions before declaring Pozzo skinflinting as the best formula? Vata looks a bargain I’ll give you that. It’s a long season and there are some hard fixtures on the horizon.
It's being realistic rather than negative. Can you tell me how many of the current squad could hack it the Premier League next season? I don't want to see us getting thrashed week after week and a succession of managers getting sacked. Give the likes of Vata, Bah, Pollock etc a couple of years and we might have a chance of staying up.
Do you think at some point in the future we are going to get promoted to the prem with a squad that is already good enough to survive in the prem ? You will have a long wait. If you don’t want to see us win promotion what is the point in going to watch ? If we are close to the play offs in April will you want us to lose ?
When the Pozzos first took over the model to get us to the PL was to loan/transfer in superior players from Udinese. Out prior two promotions before that were completely out of the blue, they were not the result of allowing a team to develop towards it for several years. If Vata/Bah/Pollock develop to the level that gets us challenging at the top of the championship then at the very least one will be sold, in the same way we only got one season out of Asprilla.
On paper probably not but as Brian Clough said the game is played on grass. The likes of Vata, Baah and Pollock might not even be with us if we're stuck in the Championship or worse. You never turn your nose up at the biggest league in the world and the riches that come with it. I'm more focused on the here and now and enjoy watching a Watford team. Yes a team that look together and are fighting for one another and especially Tom Cleverley.
Exactly. As you say the GT and Boothroyd promotions were out of the blue. Even under Pozzo that first promotion squad were pretty much entirely replaced after we were promoted. Gomes, Deeney, Ighalo survived, not many others. Even Abdi only had a bit part role.
The latest I have is that Keben is likely to sign and may be fit in 2-3 months, hopefully on the lower side of that window. Would imagine it will be him, Jebbison and potentially a midfielder before the end of the window.
But on loan instead of permanent? I’d be happy with that being the rest of our business. I think RWB is more important than CB to reinforce, but maybe Keben is seen as an option there.
The only reason I can think of is the relatively modern football phenomenon of loaning players for the current season with a mandatory buy clause kicking in next summer. In that way the cost on the books is kicked into the next financial year. Can't imagine this guy is costing enough to justify that though...?
If there are concerns he won’t recover from his injury, or will be likely to suffer frequent relapses, then at least come the end of the season he won’t be your financial responsibility any more.
He’s also out of contract next summer I believe - so loaning him for a season doesn’t make much sense to Toulouse on the face of it.
I would suggest you gave your head a wobble etc.. But then again it is Thursday and we have got some business done.
Undisclosed is Gino binary for "little bit for me, little bit for the agent and the rest can sort itself out. He probably has a little black book with all the 'undisclosed' payments we have done.
Lol I meant in the computing sense. He can sort things either one way or another with no in-between just like 0s and 1s, true or false, black or white or light and darkness.
