That Watford team of the 90s would batter this current crop of primadonnas. Nathan Lowndes v britos? Alon hazan v capoue? Clint easton v ighalo? They'd ****ing snot them
I grew up idolising the late 90s Watford team and I've never even heard of Nathan Lowndes. Therefore he would be an ideal Pozzo signing.
The 1990s? When Watford wasn't a top flight club and didn't have the financial resources to sign world-class players? Think you all are being a bit overly nostalgic.
Sounds to me like someone wasnt around to see dai Thomas, Steve talboys and Dominic ludden in their pomp. You poor sod.
Dai Thomas will always have freedom of the town for scoring one of the famous 4 that afternoon in Bedfordshire.
One of the dads at my kid's football team was in the same youth team as Rod Thomas - said he was just on another planet to every other player in terms of skill. He couldn't believe he didn't have a huge career.
Nothing that happens in the pozzo era will match that day. Nothing. We are too rich and full of foreign superstars now for any result to have that much meaning. The bsad report is the greatest thing on the internet. http://www.bsad.org/9798/reports/lutona.html . That first report also amuses me in that it points out that dai thomas looks like a convict. How right he was!
I'm still not sure it wasn't a dream! 4-0 up after 20 minutes wasn't it? Everytime I see that red and black shirt I smile.:sign15: Welcome Ken,sorry to hear about Deidre.
4-0 up after about 35 mins I think. Odd thing is that I left feeling disappointed that we hadn't really rubbed their noses in it. I was hoping for 6 or 7 and no goals in the 2nd half was a bit of a let down !
That's because GT old them not to go for it, he could sense the atmosphere was getting toxicand was worried about player and fan safety.
I heard that but disappointed if so. An 8-0 win and a few bruises and Luton deducted another few points would have been worth it.
Well we were denied a stonewall penalty in the first half when Rosenthal was hacked down in the box, referee didn't give it because he shat himself thinking there would be a riot. 10% of me is gutted the goals weren't scored in front of the Watford fans - the other 90% is glad it was at the other end just to see the meltdown and humiliation on the faces of the scum fans.
johnno had a clear penalty turned down in the second half too, and we had a goal unjustly ruled out... what a season that was
The apoplectic reactions of the scumsuckers is what makes the video of those goals so enjoyable. They get more frantic and angry with each one. I especially like the shots that show enraged Shatters sliding back the doors on their pitchside conservatories and emerging waving their fists - all red faced and furious. Delicious to watch over and over again.
Yes there's one big fat guy behind the goal who waves his arms and shouts aggressively as the first 2 go in. By the 4th he just allows his head to silently sink down into his hands in utter despair and disbelief. Lovely stuff. In fact no meetings for 30 mins so I'm just going to have a quick look on YouTube now !!
It was about the only thing I was critical of GT about. He hated the games we played against them. Still the best game I've been too
Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere but seems he has now returned to Chelsea permenently. Sounds like he was talented but a questionnable attitude, no idea if it's a shame or not as the 10 mins saw of him didn't show too much but I would assume we'll need to fill that space in the squad come Jan.
