That unfortunately rules us out. The lure of the PL will be too much. We need to get hold of youngsters quicker while they are making an impression. Cannot see a change in policy given the premium now on young British players particularly with Brexit.
Doesn’t do anything off the ball which is probably why we won’t go for him. Twine is good, but does he fit us? Probably not
Seems to me that this 'attempt' to sign him is almost a way to appease the fans, West Ham have European football so you'd think KLP will get his fair share of games, plus with Hull's new money, I doubt they'd countenance selling to a Championship rival
I should clarify. He presses at times from the front — although MK didn’t really press that high (14th for PPDA in League One). There seems to be a misconception on how Edwards sets up his midfield, he doesn’t use an out n out 10, it’s more of a box to box athletic presser. Ebou Adams for example was his key man at FGR, because he could play DM/CM/AM throughout the game
Ok I will take your word on that because I've not seen FGR at all apart from some highlights. So we need a proper box to box midfielder because we haven't got anyone at all capable of that.
That’s interesting for JP10. I thought we might be making him #10, but energetic box-to-box doesn’t sound like the best way to utilise him.
He still might use him there. He said he’ll adapt to the squad he has, doesn’t mean he’ll replicate his FGR side
Didn't he start off as a midfielder as a kid in Brazil? Played in a similar role once in 20/21 against Nottingham Forest, he performed OK, although yes, I agree, if we're not going for a classic #10 (it seems that a lot of us on here, including myself, fell into the trap of thinking positions on a map are static), I'd rather have JP as a striker than a midfielder
Not really sure he fits the profile of player we are after in that position as his agent isn't Mogi Bayat.
Genuine question - does Bayat have a single client who qualifies as home grown? We can't simultaneously bang on about the home grown rule and then let uncle Mogi run our transfer business.
The greatest trick that Mogi played was convincing the world Samuel Kalu is 24. I’m sure he’s got a way of swerving these other technicalities
No. Although there are a small handful of HG players who play in the Belgian league. Most of our Mogi signings are not actually his clients but come from clubs with which he has connections or pull. Zech Medley Owen Otasowie Cameron Humphrys Leonardo da Silva Lopes Rabbi Matondo Matthew Sorinola (moving to Swansea on loan) Ike Ugbo Josh Cullen Cameron Burgess There might be a couple of others. Lopes, Cullen and Ugbo would be good signings but don’t think that Mogi is linked to any of their clubs.
Exactly this. Nobody really knows how Edwards will set us up. He's only managed 2 senior men's teams, hardly enough evidence to demonstrate that he's wedded to a particular system.
You're probably right but we're being linked to some good players at the minute which would suggest we have money to spend
Don't get me wrong, this would be an amazing signing. I imagine he'd cost at least £15 million though. No chance we spend that, let alone on one player.
We have a pretty good idea based on his previous team, what he's said so far, the talk he's given the players, and the noises from the club. It seems pretty clear that it'll be 3 CBs, 2 attacking wing-backs, and 2 CFs. The main question mark seems to be how he'll arrange the 3 midfielders.
