Looking on up the cherries forum fans aren't impressed at all came on at the 50 minute stage and appears to have spent most of the time running In the opposite direction to whereby should have been
The more I hear about this player the happier I am we didn't sign him. The comments from the Bournemouth fans are the exact same as Roma were saying about him. Plenty of skill on the ball, but will not track back. He's a luxury player, but Bournemouth have backed themselves into a corner by having to play him every week. I think that could really hit team morale hard, knowing they have a passenger that cannot be dropped. I will expect him to have good moments and good games, but already it sounds like he's cost them 3 points.
Written off after one appearance. Imagine the outrage on here if a Watford player is written off after one game :dismay:
I'm gonna say it, I think the attitude thing was partly right. Sure it wasn't a case of QSF looking into his eyes and deciding there on in that his attitude wasn't good enough (a la WD Sport) but he probably asked a question regarding defensive work and made his judgement there. I wouldn't write him off if he were a Watford player so there's no reason for me to write him off because he's not. But I have to kinda agree with Jellyman. The Pozzo scouting network is generally fantastic but it's not like we've had our fair share on continental duds who haven't put in the leg work defensively (or in one case even going forward). Iturbe just looks to be one of those players. Still, Howe's got enough time with him to try and turn it round...
Probably hadn't realised he had gone on. Iturbe just activated clause 4.3 of his contract. "If it gets to 50 mins and golden boy hasn't put you on, you have the right to bring yourself on taking off the player in the position you'd like to play in that match."
Can't be smug after 1 game but it seems there is a big language barrier which he was less likely to have with us. Surprised the game plan wasn't just "give it to Iturbe"
Bloody hell. Talk about snap judgements. The bloke played 39 minutes. Safe to say he deserves a bit more time to prove whether he's any good or not.
I thought he did ok. Nothing special but nothing bad on his first game and will take a few weeks to bed in. Shot from the edge of the box was sharp and strong, a few more of those and he'll get a couple of goals this season. Afobe on the other hand looked pretty good. Only a couple of things away from a great opening game and could have had a couple if not for a poor first touch. A bit more confidence and prem game time and he could be immense.
Everything will be fine this morning once Uncle Eddie goes down on bended knees and apologises most profusely to Juan for not starting him and promises he will be first on the team list in future.
Thought Iturbe had a really good effort on goal near the end of the game. Good curve, height, accuracy and power that required a smart stop from the keeper. Having said that, he doesn't seem to track back very well and in a team renowned for a leaky defense, that's probably not a good thing at all.
OK he is now a fully fledged muff player so lets stop talking about him and close this thread please!
Unused sub in last 2 games - could it be that the stuff on here about 'guaranteed pitch time' was, umm, bollix?
If I remember correctly, the statement put out by WDSport was that him having to play a certain amount of games would trigger the buy clause. I'm not taking what they said as gospel but that's what I think I remember them saying. Edit: I think that was also mixed in their statement with the player supposedly demanding game time.
Iturbe's agent: If my client doesn't start x amount of games, you have to pay us this much more Eddie: Well, it's not my money, and he's a lazy ****
Not beyond the realms of possibility that he turned up to us with a Billy big b*llocks attitude and an expectation to be starting every game. When we told him to do one and it sunk in his dream move to the Prem was rapidly vanishing he reduced his expectations accordingly while negotiating with Muff. They were his only other option as we'd supposedly rejected him based on Quique's mind reading stare, so no option of going back, cap in hand, to us.
The QSF mind probe looks like it works, we might have dodged a bullet there! However, in some ways I hope Muff did nick him by bidding more than us, that would be sooo great as he seems to be a flop so far :naughty:
I think it's pretty obvious that Bournemouth simply came in with more money and he said thank you very much. No more to it than that. They'll probably say they saved money not having to scout the players they're buying. ;-)
Not bothered about what Iturbe does. We pulled out of signing him so that we could nearly sign Philips, Townsend and Montero. We're nearly signing much better players than him these days. Move on.
Subbed off after 60 minutes against league 2 Portsmouth today Supposedly looked well out of his depth again
