I just wanted to share the information that the deal might fall through despite it being announced. Not often that happens. Apologies to offend anyone but I can't reveal the reasons why and sorry for what ended up being 'tease-like' details. I was hoping they'd be revealed but it turned out the technical stuff got sorted out. As you may have seen, JI is on the bench for Bournemouth tonight.
I for one appreciate anyone who is prepared to take the time to come on here and not share information with us about why something which didn't happen might have happened if it wasn't for unspecified reasons.
Bournemouth sign a player we at one time wanted. And so is the continuation of a 45 page long thread.
All that money spent & Muff are now a point nearer the drop than they were a few hours ago. I anticipate massive bids for Townsend, Adebayor & Suarez by tomorrow lunchtime
View from AFCB forum: It was the Ritchie replacement where it went wrong. Iturbe just walked up and down. He didn't chase back and barely ran forward. He looked lost and from then on we were effectively playing with 10 men. Which begs the question: How, after more than a week of Iturbe training with the side, did EH not know that Iturbe was never going to do the hard work?
Some tweets I have found on Iturbe, all from muff fans: Iturbe all at sea, no protection once Ritchie went off #afcb Hard lines. Not able to get into any rhythm second half. Afobe - good. Seems as though Iturbe has an on/off switch. Next match crucial #afcb iturbe needs to track back and grabban needs to press #afcb Iturbe looked like a lost child #afcb Iturbe off the ball reminded me of someone playing Be A Pro on fifa and didnt have a clue where to be #afcb Howe says dead leg for Ritchie. He sounds pissed off at Iturbe. I don't expect we will see him again for a while. #AFCB Howe was going mad at Iturbe for not tracking back almost straight away. Think he realised his error bringing him on at that point .#AFCB Iturbe reminded me of when you are short on a Sunday so you drag a mate in last minute to make 11..looked lost out on his own tonight #afcb
Well it's just his first game but sounds like he'd have looked even more out of place in our pressing team. You really have to wonder if the purchase of him by Bournemouth is just one big part of a willy waving contest by yet another American owner who really does not have a clue about football and thinks throwing money at things is the answer.
I agree that its unfair to judge him on 45 minutes but its the reasons given above which should be worrying for AFCB fans. Afobe had an awful debut but at least he was doing what was asked and getting in good positions. Iturbe apparently seemed lazy according to many.
Exactly, it seems Afobe was over keen and a rush of blood led to some errors, whereas Iturbe was simply lazy.
Not only is he apparently not willing to put in a shift for the team... the other players have to watch him do it whilst earning twice what they are paid How on earth Howe and Co. thought this would be anything other than a disaster is beyond me
Quite enjoyed EH's post match interview. What did you think of the new boys? Afobe fine, Grabben fine...not a word about Iturbe. Don't think he was pleased.
I'm sure he'll improve however I can't see him starting for a few weeks. Looks like the Howitzer might not trust him ad use him as an impact sub.
Obviously very early days and we will all look stupid if he goes on to do well this season but looking like a good decision by QSF
I often preach about giving foreigners time to settle into a different style of football so I'm not going to laugh at them just yet. It sounds like he wasn't even doing the basics like tracking runs or being in the right position though. Maybe he thinks he's too good for Bournemouth so doesn't need to do the dirty work? I doubt Howe will have that and based on these tweets Quique definitely made the right call.
Well pleased with Iturbe first 40 mins contribution, however, another weeks training and he will be falling over in the box as fresh air brings him down no doubt and demanding opposition players get sent off.Hopefully the fairy tale that is the cherries continues and they end up back in Div 2 ,amen.
Does anyone have a link to the post match interview with Eddie Howe? It sounds like real naivety on Howe's part to bring on a player who clearly doesn't understand the system or speak enough of the language yet to understand what the hell he was meant to be doing. Why bring Iturbe on when Pugh was good to go? England's golden boy failed tonight with this expensive and costly experiment.
He completely ignored Iturbes involvement - he was asked about 'how the new signings got on' and he talked about Afobe and Grabban
That's what happens when you pay someone £80k+ plus a £3mil loan fee with a guarantee of first team without working for your place, a limo driver, helicopter, free first class plane tickets to and from exotic destinations and all that other jazz that he got out of them. He's laughing all the way to the bank while Bournemouth will be crying all the way to relegation (hopefully).
Yes perhaps. Limo driver? Helicopter? Do you have a link to any of this? Would love to read about it!
This is Howe's 'Ellington' or 'Balotelli' moment The stage where the young British manager starts to believe their own hype and signs a dud that only they believe they can rejuvenate
