I’d like to be the first person to register my lack of concern that the board of a football club feel patronised.
Essentially saying Hibs want a hefty sell-on percentage and other things clubs find disagreeable. If one club baulks at it, then maybe there's grounds for saying as much. But if multiple clubs value him lower and don't agree to the clauses, then I don't see how the complaints are viable. Just say nothing and keep the player!
He's definitely one I'd like right now at the club or bought and kept at Hibs for the season. Like with Ferguson I just can't see it happening now because of the glaring holes elsewhere that need sorting. Or is it simply waiting for someone to move before making a better offer.
Thats not the Gino way. He offer peanuts, watches the player go elsewhere, and then moves onto the free list/calls his Belgian mate/puts a square peg in a round hole and blames the manager a month later. *Delete as applicable. Or don't. They all apply.
That's my optimistic side coming out again. The Villa game will no doubt bring the the realistic me to the forefront. It just frustrates me that we were after two young exciting talents early on and we totally ****ed our chances of getting them both in.
Seems a bit naive on his part. Big clubs are transactional, that's the nature of them. Occasionally, you get some semblance of something else (like Watford and Fluminense with Pedro), but those situations are rare. Larger clubs aren't in the business of rescuing the finances of smaller ones or helping them turn into bigger clubs themselves. Its' his right to hold out for what he thinks the player is worth, but if the lad was that spectacular, he would have Champions League clubs sniffing after him, not Premier League strugglers.

From Sky’s Transfer Centre page: Hibs manager Jack Ross has told Sky Sportsthat left-back Josh Doig will leave the club in the coming weeks. Doig has been left out of the Hibs squad for the live on Sky game against Motherwell on Sunday afternoon. Ross said there is strong interest from various clubs and he expects movement soon.
No idea, last I heard it had gone quiet for whatever reason. But always possible we have gone back in. I’ve asked again - will post again if I hear anything back of note.

Straight out on loan to Forest would be perfect. Give him a season in the Championship while Rose and Masina prove they aren't up to it in the PL. Then we can start again at left back with Doig for the 22/23 season.
With Masina going away in the winter, I don't think a loan away (at least for the whole season) would be wise
I have been watching the game between Motherwell and Hibernian on television this afternoon. The commentator has just said that 'Josh Doig's departure is imminent, most likely to Watford, but we shall have to wait and see'.
West Ham the only other name I’ve heard aside from us and Burnley. Probably will end up at Palace though. They’re buying everyone else this window.
Hibs selling for the price that everyone knew they wanted about a month ago. I'm shocked we didn't get a deal done.
If there's any truth to what Leventhal says about Burnley wanting to buy him and then loan him out, I think that would be a sensible move for him. Since Masina will be away in the winter, I don't think a transfer like that would be sensible for us as we'd almost certainly need him during that time
@AdamLeventhal "Transfer update - Josh Doig Understand Hibs close to an agreement with 2 clubs for sale of the LB. Fee likely to be £4-5m. Loads interested during window inc Burnley who appear willing to onward loan, with Forest interested. #WatfordFC not in mix at this point." @TheAthleticUK It does not look hopeful, but Adam Leventhal being careful to cover his back as usual.
