Good luck to him. Was always going to be a number 2 here and Selvik looks to be our new no.1 If the club can move Bachmann on this summer, that leaves Selvik with Roberts/Marriott as the number 2. I would be happy with that.
Are you allowed to do loans with an emergency recall these days ? Would be a shame for a promising young keeper to potentially get zero game time next season sat on the bench. Would be happy to have a youth keeper on the bench if we could recall a loan if Selvik (assuming he stays) got injured.
Bond was a good character and did better than I and most expected when he came in (wasn't hard as Bachmann was/is terrible), but I have no bad things to remember him doing and I wish him the very best in his career. He's been a good servant to us and I hope we've given him the experience so he can improve his game. Like others have said, Selvik remaining our #1 next season is almost vital, and I'd also be happy with Myles Roberts as our #2. Just try and shift Bachmann on over the Summer, although that new contact he signed might complicate things.
Has Myles Roberts played a single minute for Bristol Rovers after we pulled him away from Partick where he was playing and starring every week ? What a bloody stupid thing to do that was !
Pozzo will swap him for Bayo and keep Bachmann as no.1 so he can ‘solve’ the striker problem without spending any of the money he gets for Georgi
I know you say that Myles Roberts loan is a waste and I am pretty much of the same opinion - the only reason I can think for it was for him to prepare mentally to be a no.2 keeper with us next season by having experience of it in a first team environment at Bristol Rovers. It’s the only thing I can think of to make his loan make any sense at all
Udinese have two realistic first team keepers and apparently Okoye isn't going to be around much longer.
Good luck to him for his new adventure. We rarely stirred him into action for us this season, but when he did he was rarely shaken either.
The Bristol manager stated that Myles won’t play for them, and is coming back to Watford for an operation.
Agree that Bond was pretty solid in all his matches (more than probably he or us thought he would get) and I enjoyed his storming match at Pride Park especially, as that result started to get us going again and effectively gave John Eustace a destination plus Paul Warne the sack. He was pushed hard for MoM that day by the Derby posts/bars at either end mind!!
Agree. There's enough vagueness about the deal for him to go back to Udinese to move on somewhere else. We'll end up back with Bachmann.
Why would he go back to then move somewhere else? Can't see any sense in that. Surely if Pozzo wants to sell him he just transfers him directly from us?
