Remember that skinny Brazilian kid's debut debut against Tranmere? That was just 32 months ago. He's one player who has truly developed here and he's still only 20. I don't think we've held him back at all, quite the opposite. It's worked out really well for everybody. He had a pretty rough time of it playing for Fluminense. He was playing as a lone striker at the age of 17, carrying an injury when they were a big club fighting relegation. After a dream start the goals dried up and he got a lot of stick from the fans, eventually being dropped after which Flu pulled away from the relegation zone. I think thats one reason he appreciates the fans at Watford cos we genuinely love him and apart from a few naysayers always supported him and gave him time to develop. The Newcastle move couldve been good for him but Everton would in some ways be a step back from his current trajectory. It's a club in turmoil with a terrible manager. This could be the season he really comes of age as a playmaking attacker. His move to Watford has worked out really well for him, albeit entirely due to his own attitude and ability. He does seem smart enough to recognize how well things have gone here and how good it's been for his development. I'm just so happy he's staying, Ive already told Santa I don't need any more presents this year.
Having so many managers and never having a defined position has hardly helped him has it. Do you think he learned a lot from Roy for example? Also 32 months is 3 years, we’re not stupid.
Definitely think working with Rob is already paying dividends for him. As others have mentioned, he has learned to stay on his feet a lot more. The only way is up for him.
If you look at what he's turning into, it does seem like he's risen above the turmoil at the club. Maybe he's compared and cross referenced the feedback he's got from all those managers and learned from that and also benefitted from playing a multitude of styles and systems. Maybe not having a defined position has helped him to develop into a more complex, flexible and well rounded player. He's always been an intelligent and skilful footballer. If you look at his performance against Boro and compare it to 32 months (2 years 8 months) ago against Tranmere and also to his last few games for Fluminese, Id say his progress has been stellar. You could say its in spite of the instability at the club but it doesnt change the fact that he's turning into a great player at Watford in front of our eyes. It's bl00dy marvellous.
MG probably has a heatmap of his activity across the British isles so he can identify any trends he might have missed.
Don't Forest have someone surplus we could loan now they've bought in their 21 () new faces? Not Dennis...
Yep, quite a few fringe players that took them to 24th in the league last season. We can take our pick apparently
Presume fuzzy73 means the crap players that had them bottom before Cooper came in and signings were made in January?
I see... and they were mostly loans? I was hoping for a RWB. Instead we're 'right back' where we started.
Where this RWB then ? Assuming it’s a loan from Udinese does that have an extension on the Sept 1 deadline ?
I did a gig there 10 years ago when it was Bar Solo. Gary Bushell and his Oi band were also weirdly on the bill .(we were a ska band) He brought a load of part time neo nazis along , atmos got rather unsavoury . Bushell also nicked my 9volt adapter plug .
