We nursed a crocked Welbeck back to health, investing years of valuable time and the expertise of our magnificent medical team, paying him a kings ransom to sit in the medical room and rarely setting foot on the pitch for his charitable philanthropist sponsors. Only for his new superhuman bionic unbreakable body to F off and never be injured at a poxy seaside club that didn’t even have a ground a few years ago. I hope he’s grateful for our charity.
I doubt very much he puts us on his cv or even remembers playing for us a bit like Dawson, neither could give two hoots while they were with us!
Assume we have nice juicy sell-on fee for Pedro, here's hoping he can stay fit for the rest of season and get a load of goals and assists before making a big-money move. Can't see him wanting to stick around at a small team like Brighton for too long!
Get a nice sell on fee if there is any truth in this at all . https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1925158705231716567 Will someone pay 70 million for him though Been injured a bit and ill disciplined at times
Great player but he does seem to have more than his fair share of tetchy/petulant moments. An absolute gem of a player to watch, I wouldn't bet against him going to one of the biggest clubs in the league - City or Liverpool. Newcastle had bid for him in the window before he went to Brighton so they might still show an interest.
I saw something on Twitter yesterday saying he'd had a spat with a team mate but honestly can't remember who - may explain why Brighton are happy to listen to offers.
Yes Van Hecke (spelling ) Why he missed their game v Liverpool. From a local journalist so probably true too . https://x.com/AndyNaylorBHAFC/status/1924910888852525229
Depends if clubs start to panic. I'm sure one the so called big clubs would shell out that much at a push.
Can’t recall too many petulant moments from him, think that’s harsh. Would do well at Liverpool if they don’t get Wirtz, Spurs for UCL football now but that’s pretty sideways. Arsenal need a proper #9 rather than Joao. I could see Forest selling Gibbs-White and splashing on Joao if they make Europe.
Yeah, never thought he was petulant with us - that’s an odd take. He was obviously a good player for us, but the main issue with us is that a 10 was neither really one thing or another in terms of what we actually needed, not having had a decent striker for so long. In a decent team were he can fulfil his role with decent players in all the other positions, doing their jobs, he’s a brilliant player.
Fight with a teammate, refused to play, wants to leave, underwhelming season, fans have all turned on him. “Watching him like a pwoud dad” - Watford fans on twitter.
Unsurprisingly Chelsea been linked given the Brighton connections and their fetish to spend money but their fans don’t seem very keen on the idea .
Isn’t it % of the selling on fee? If we sold for £35m? Chelsea buy for £60m? £60m- £35m x 10% = £2.5m Wages for a few months!!
Yeah I always thought it was based on the profit. Can’t see how it would ever make much sense for the buying club to have to pay a percentage on the part of the fee they’d already paid to the previous club.
It’s not always on profit. Brighton pay £30m initially knowing the player is probably worth £35-40m for example but £30m is all they can part with. Watford know he will continue on an upward trajectory and go for £50m+ in the future, 10% of that is minimum £5m which makes the total transfer fee collected from Brighton, in the end, closer to what they originally wanted. Whilst Brighton commit less upfront originally. Makes sense for all parties. Nearly all football business is done in instalments and chunks anyway.
That's a cool £8 MILLION!!! Nice one Pedro!!! We could buy a half decent striker with that sort of money, if Gino uses the cash in the market!!!
Fingers crossed, would be great for the club and obviously great for Pedro who will never win anything at Brighton.
