Ok, so only on the pitch for a relatively short cameo towards the end, but I thought he was impressively up to speed and gave a good account of himself. I know all the comments that are coming about how much we can expect from this sicknote for the next 30 minutes before his next injury, but I am genuinely hoping that he stays fit and can thrive. He can be a good player, and is probably a better defender than Ryan Andrews. I like Andrews btw. But we all know his defensive shortcomings.
He genuinely did play well for the time he was on. He's still not a starter but neither is Kayembe or Bayo. Credit to him, along side Baah and Vata they actually looked like they wanted to win the game along with Louza. Our attack is so poor - it's crazy how we've scored so many goals from midfield.
Had more bandages on today than this guy: He also looked completely gassed at one point and was unable to make a recovery run to get back in position when an attacking move broke down. I agree he looked more solid than Andrews defensively though.
A good dig? Please remind us of his top goals. He played well yesterday, but shooting if never the right option for him.
Not patronising him, but there have been a few times at the Vic where I’ve seen him shape to shoot and wince, only for it to whistle just wide, one day he will score from range and we’ll look like plums!
Has always had a bit of the Total Recall Mars mutant about him but I think he has done well since his return.
What a joke. He's held together by sellotape, hasn't been able to string together 20 consecutive games in about 5 years but instead of concentrating now on building a bit of stability and consistency in holding down a club place he's swanning off to play thousands of miles away.
He'll come back crocked and we won't see him till March 2026 at the earliest. Should never of extended the contract and should of gone with the clear out after our parachute payments ended. Cannot believe we held onto him this long knowing his fitness issues.
They probably have a zillion better RBs eligible for them, the issue is getting them to declare for them!
Seems they have two experienced defenders that I have actually heard of then not much else . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DR_Congo_national_football_team
He deserves his call-up. There’s a good player in there WHEN fit. A big ask, I know. But recently he’s avoided injury, got a run of matches, and has looked decent. Well done.
Yeah, I'm with Jumbo - there's a distinctly average, often sluggish and mistake prone one-sided lower Championship player there, when fit. I can't really see what case he's ever made for 'deserving' any kind of call up. His stats are actually wild: in two of his four seasons with us at Championship level, he's failed to even break out of the teens for appearances and into four figures for minutes featured overall, and the most he's ever managed is 1600 of a possible 4,140 minutes across the entirety of the topsy-turvy upside down world that was the 20/21 season. Of course, you've acknowledged that injuries are a huge issue of his, but it seems illustrative to me of the fact that he's 24 and he can't really be said to have actually begun his career proper yet, let alone deserve international recognition. .
All fair points. He’s been a hard player to properly assess as his starts have been so infrequent, but I think he’s done quite well recently and is probably the best defender among our many wing-backs, although true that’s not a particularly high bar!
