Not sure this is true to be honest. He was capable for most of time there - look back and every year people were saying we needed upgrades at centre back and sometimes left back but there was no clamour for a new right back. What did happen though was his confidence fell off a cliff in our last season there and think that's probably clouding it. Even then he had some decent performances. If his confidence can remain high, he'll be fine.
Kiko is a bit injury prone and runs his socks off so is often knackered towards the end of games. Ngakia isn't quite good enough yet for a team wanting to survive in the PL. Stryger Larsen would be a very good addition to the squad, I doubt we'd see much difference in quality whenever Kiko is unavailable, and there's a chance he may even be a slight upgrade. He also could probably do a decent job covering at right-wing as well.
I wouldn't mind if this happened. We need some competition for starting places in as many positions as possible.
Doubt we will be in for him now. His stock will be at its peak. If we'd signed him a month ago it would make more sense. Good player though, probably a bit on the old side
What difference will any of that have made? Chances are we'd just be loaning him from Udinese. The Pozzos will have likely already discussed the possibility of a move prior to the tournament and may even have made a decision already, with any possible move likely not going to be announced until the end of the tournament.
His stock will have probably gone up and it might make signing him more difficult? Sorry, thought I had implied that in the previous post.
Sounds like he has better options. Watford unlikely to sign Jens Stryger Larsen from Udinese | Watford Observer
What a disaster, after we already signed a new right back to go with the one we already had, this seemed like this would definitely definitely happen.
Who did we sign? I genuinely can't follow all the completely underwhelming players we've recruited and where they play.
Navarro must be nearing 50 career appearances by now? Still only a youthful 27 years old. Reckon he could be a regular in 3 or 4 years
Had a good Euro's, he's 30 and is probably holding on for a bigger club with a bigger pay cheque. Can't really blame him. I guess if no one comes in for him then we could still get him late in the window. I do agree that Kiko needs competition in that position and I think Ngakia could do with a full season out on loan in the Championship. He's a great prospect but doesn't have the experience we need for this coming season.
We as a fanbase complain regularly about our talented young players not getting a chance and wasting away their careers (or leaving). Ngakia could well be bloody brilliant and seems a very competent defender already. If he’s only lacking experience I say give him it here, with us.
The performance that sticks out most for me from our last season in the Prem (in a positive way) is the home game against Wolves where he pocketed man of the moment Adama Traore, incidentally at left-back!
Galatasaray is in Turkey, Kerching is in Malaysia, capital of Sarawak (Sorry, all these puns and the heat have got to me)
