Exactly! I wasn’t disagreeing you, as your first post clearly said during a match. And Baah’s was after the whistle. So technically yes, not in the game.
Yeah, admittedly reaching a bit with Janmaat, who at least performed relatively consistently well when available. Motta would have been a better shout. Or Davide Faraoni.
So including Abankwah (and the rather dodgy Bayo loan), how many different loanees have we now had from Udinese? Have a guess…either 25 30 35 Or 40?
Unless I’ve mis-counted, I think it’s 30. Although we had a lot of Pozzo loanees the first season, I was surprised to see how many were listed as being from Granada rather than Udinese.
I thought Ngakia was one of the better players in the 2nd half when he was playing on his natural side. Got run ragged in the first half. As for Abankwah, apart from his naivety in going down and utter stupidity in staying down…I thought he looked quite tidy. He won’t win the fans over though with silly moments like that.
Exactly why I was urging caution on Saturday evening when some of the over-effusive praise was flying about.
His career track record to date suggests it was Saturday that was the outlier ! ...and even then of course he could easily have been sent off after 28 secs !
“He is a really good profile for being able to defend in a four,” the Head Coach explained. “He brings us speed, physicality, and I can see he values the art of defending. “It is one where we were completely aligned on - it is not a project. “We identified him as a player that is the perfect profile for what we are missing. “He is one that the Udinese manager actually was quite desperate to keep, but we feel like he can add more value to us, and I am pleased he has come and joined us. “He is a real promising addition to the squad.” Another great signing by Tom!
I'm more than prepared to give Abankwah more time from the performance I witnessed on Saturday. Yes he was pretty poor lasdt night - like virtually all of our team - and his effort to win a free kick was the lowlight. That said he was still a better choice to keep on than Ngakia. I'd conclude there is a player there in Abankwah and I hope he starts at Coventry and has learned from his error having been thrown in the deep end. In the 4 (?) years or so I've watched Ngakia I've yet to see him perform at a level above League 2. Lovely fella often brought out for interviews but I've seen enough of his trade marks shots over the bar to conclude that he has yet to convince me he's someone who is remotely at a standard we need. The duddest of duds!
Another to add to the absolutely woeful list of full backs we've had over the years. Blondeau Nyom Lazaar Briggs Lewis Darlington now this waster.
Thing is, he’s not even meant to be a full back, so why is he being played there ahead of other actual full backs. Defies any logic at all.
Ngakia at LB, Abankwah at RB, ......it does seem odd. Surely for proper balance, Ngakia/Andrews at RB, Larouci/Morris at LB, Abankwah on the bench as reserve RB/CB ????
Yes exactly - same as Festy. It's why Ngakia has been playing but certainly shouldn't be at left back. Unfortunately the best right and left backs at the club are on the coaching staff in some way.
