Jacob Murphy has received interest from Southampton, Watford and Rangers. He could leave for as little as £3m if he fails to sign an extension at St James’ Park.

Some reports that he’s out of contract in the summer too. Just hitting form with Newcastle. Would be a good squad option on a free, but with PZ I don’t think we have a great news for a backup RW.

 

On his day he's good but in all honesty he's far too inconsistent.

 

An opportunity for Jacob to climb the ladder ?

 

He'd be crackers to come here if that's his aim.

Maybe. He hasn’t been given too many opportunities to be fair. Was superb on loan at Sheff Wed last season - 9 goals and 6 assists in 39 games for a side who isn’t known for its free scoring style. Decent production this season too for Newcastle and considered one of their more consistent performers, playing largely at RB.

I don’t have an issue at all with bringing him in as squad filler. Could do worse. But not sure we have the need for him at RW or RB.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a handful of this kind of signing. Free/nominal fees, with some resale value and PL experience, coming in with expectation to get some game time but not as a starter. Kean Bryan was linked last week - a similar sort of profile. John Lundstram, Nathaniel Phillips, Patrick Van Aanholt would also fit that sort of profile.

He was very good starting out at Norwich but doesn't seem to have fulfilled his potential. Maybe he went to the wrong club.

At Norwich he played on the left and I would see him as an upgrade on Ken. If the price is right.

 

Would be an excellent option. Him, Sarr, Sema and PZ would be more than adequate wide options at PL level. For this reason, I doubt we will sign him.

 

Tbf if the Geordies like him, fine by me. They do have some below striking options now that Wilson is out, so I wouldn't hold the lack of goals and assists against him too much, seems an upgrade on Sema

 

Having watched today's game, he has instructed his agent to accept whatever Newcastle offer him.

 

Did this bloke play for Cardiff against us a couple of years back on the left wing? Fell over a lot if I remember.
