It is time for some wood panelling analysis. I think Imran Louza is at our training ground.

He is a client of Mogi Bayat - long term Watford favorite.

This also follows reports that Mogi was at the Nantes game the other day with a view to a Watford transfer.

Imran Louza, I Louza? Is this some sort of joke? Who reported it? Peter Ian Staker?

That does seem odd - I cant possibly imagine how they would have crossed paths.

Here's a pic of our training ground for an academy game vs Notts Co. It's from 2015, but it looks like the same place to me.

Excellent. I was struck by the Sportsbetio, Football Manager and Watford FC advertising boards in the original photo but this has confirmed it for me.

    Seems done and dusted.

Initial impression from looking at clips and his stats are that Louza seems a bit of a lousy signing.

Only 22, but still just 2 assists and 2 open-play goals in 28 starts + 5 sub apps for Nantes from midfield. Mediocre tackling and interception stats as well.

At best he seems another prospect who might stick with us if we got relegated, but again doesn't seem an immediate PL-level upgrade.

Perhaps we pushed for Muani but got fobbed off with this guy instead. Best case maybe he and Muani are mates and we've negotiated a double-deal.

Highlights from 19/20 (couldn't see one compilation from this season):

One of his two open-play goals from this season:

Presumably coming in as a 10/8?

He looks a fun player to watch, but is he actually a step up on Cleverley/Zinc/Gosling/Quina?

Interesting stats for a midfielder. 7 goals in 33 games (28 starts), which is decent, but only 2 assists.

    Cleary something in this then.

Find it baffling that there are people slagging him off already. The kid was linked with Milan two months ago. Just 22 and by most accounts the best prospect at Nantes.

His fbref profile is very encouraging, particularly given his age: above average in every major category, and look at the players he profiles as similar to. Playing for one of the worst teams in the league too.

He seems to have played absolutely everywhere in midfield for them this season, mostly as a CM, but with more games as a DM, LW and RW than as a 10.

A plus-point of his appears to be his relative two-footedness and versatility, but while he doesn't seem particularly terrible at any one thing he doesn't seem particularly good at any one thing either. I doubt there's any of our current midfielders who he would be an upgrade on, he just seems a useful prospect as a squad option that is bang average.

He's got 3 years left on his contract so presumably we'd have to pay a reasonable fee to get him. Would we do that for someone who is no more than a squad option?

That seems quite a lot of money for a player who isn't a massive improvement (if at all) on what we already have.

Whether it is good value or not - I won't pretend to know.

It just seems a bit of an odd one in terms of us having a fairly limited budget and him not being a massive improvement.

Again - I could be totally wrong as I have watched about 15 minutes of Nantes all season so mainly going off stats and where I think the issues with our squad are.
