https://the72.co.uk/176773/west-bro...nited-and-crystal-palace-for-chelsea-starlet/ A few sites linking us with Ike Ugbo (21), a 6' 1" centre forward entering the final year of his contract at Chelsea. Plenty of others interested too with West Ham & West Brom regularly mentioned as well as Crystal Palace, Derby & Nottm Forest. Ugbo played for Dutch side Roda last season making 28 appearances. He scored 13 goals and contributed 3 assists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ike_Ugbo https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ike-ugbo/profil/spieler/339943
Hope we could also get Tino Anjorin from Chelsea and build the team around them. Watford would have The Soul Of Ike and Tino.
Important to note that Roda are in the 2nd division of Dutch football lol. I can't see how this guy would be good enough even for the Championship, unless he's another to just fill up our youth team.
Interested again apparently: https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=39724#.YIk1NIJHYnU.twitter
8 in 16 according to Wiki. Ugbo is younger though and had a good season the year prior (albeit in the Dutch second division).
Wow. He would be fantastic in the prem if he could really be as good as Perica and also scored goals in the Dutch second division too ! Championship standard at best ! We need to be looking at proven scorers in a major league, not yet another fair-to-middling striker who has scored in the Belgian league....
Agree with the sentiment in general. I've watched a fair few clips of Ugbo while looking at possible striker signings, but hadn't thought him worth posting in the transfer suggestions thread. I'd be fine with us taking a punt on someone like him if he's cheap and will be 2nd or even 3rd choice, behind a couple of other striker signings with a bit more pedigree, but I'd be surprised if he's ready to be make much of an impact as a regular PL starter.
Who was the youth team striker who used to play for us that had a similar name as Ugbo and was highly rated? Think he left for United
I think you're referring to Ogo Obi. Went on trial with Man U, didn't get signed, now playing in non-league.
Ogo Obi? We kept him but he was released a few years back, now a PE teacher whilst also kicking around non-league with the likes of Hayes & Yeading etc Great interview with him here: https://www.isthmian.co.uk/football-and-me-the-ogo-obi-story-61767
Exactly this. I'm happy for us to sign anytime with a mad name. Brice Dja Djedje being a personal favourite. It's being linked to dull dung like Charlie ******* Bell that boils my piss.
Maybe we should go in for Tanmy Abraham he can barely get a kick of a football at Chelsea these days.

Looks decent and will probably make us money at that price. But none of him, Muani (with whom we’ve been linked extensively) Cucho and Pedro - all really exciting young players with a lot of potential to grow - look like they presently have what it takes to be definitely good enough as a starting striker, particularly a lone frontman in a 4-3-3. Maybe the club is hoping that if they throw enough decent yet cheap young players at the wall, one of them will stick and explode in value. I’d be very well to take that approach in other positions, but seems risky for a CF.
According to a journalist guesting on Talksport earlier, Chelsea want £40m for Abraham, so that will certainly not be happening (for that among several other reasons).
If we're considering paying £5m for this guy, does that mean he represents our striking upgrades for the season? An admittedly impressive goalscoring record at a relegation-threatened team in the Belgian league at the age of 22 seems like quite a bit of a risk to pin our entire goalscoring survival hopes on, to be frank. Someone comfort me by telling me how incredibly unlikely it is that he is 'the one' and is, instead, just 'a one'.
Thing is, could be said that a striker who we would expect to get 15+ is financially beyond us. You’re looking at paying £20m-£30m for someone like that and whilst I’ll stop short of saying we won’t spend that much on one player, I’d still be surprised. And even then you could be getting a Maupay type (who some on here said we should have bought 2 years ago) who hasn’t taken off and misses a lot of chances. If there’s someone who is about £10m-£15m who we suspect could get that kind of goal return from, we will very likely be well down the pecking order in the queue. Then you look at players like Giroud who others bigger than us will want. And players like Batshuayi who will so cost 3x what this Chelsea lad will and upwards of 60k a week. We will undoubtedly be looking for strikers of genuine ‘instant impact’ quality - but we will have to be bothered shrewd and lucky to get one I suspect. I genuinely suspect we have one eye on Brentford’s promotion push and Toney’s availability - but the cost is surely gonna be too big unless a deal can be with someone going the other way. But they seem to be a club who scout thoroughly and don’t really take other clubs cast offs. This lad is homegrown, seems to be improving season on season and £5m suddenly isn’t all that much money to us.
They could want £4 for him and I’d still happily bet everything I own that he wouldn’t be playing for us next season.
I suspect he’s ‘a one’ who may be suspected of having the ability to be ‘the one’. As I think ‘the one’ for the here and now is likely £30m+.
