How can Sunak be shocked about Mone being paid £30,000,000 of taxpayer's money? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-63888582 Or are junior civil servants at the Treasury able to execute unsupervised, multi-million pound transfers, to commercial/personal bank accounts?

Is it not the case that you’re not allowed to join the police if you’re in a similar situation? Because you know, you could be easily bought and bribed?
It looks like brown trousers time for the Tories with the latest Savanta data: I'm taking it with a massive pinch of NaCl as there's no way on earth that Hertsmere is ever going to be anything that a safe Tory seat.
That little stretch of blue clinging on there down on the south coast and up through Dorset and the Cotswolds. That's where all the retired colonels and big landowners are. But from the look of the map, one big shove and we could have the vast majority of them away in Devon and Cornwall. All we got to do then is build a wall..
If the LibDems really concentrate their resources on those remaining blue dots, I reckon even more could be vulnerable. Many Tories could never vote for Labour, but with the right candidate and targeted local campaigning, I am sure they could be swayed towards the LibDems. The map also suggests that the LibDems will lose all three seats they have won from the Tories in by elections in the last 18 months - I would be surprised if that happened.
Take from this whatever inference you like: [ANECDOTE] When I first joined B'wood's Working Mens Social Club it had large number of Masonic members in senior positions. These would actively 'invite' many of the self-employed builders/sole traders to join 'The Craft". My dad, a plumber, was invited but declined. I asked him why as I thought it would be good for his business and he gave two reason why he wouldn't join. The first was, the judging by the Masonic representation in 'The Club' they were the biggest bunch of w**kers he had ever met. The second was, indeed, financial: his mate who joined was expected, when he was made 3rd Wombat Persuivat or whatever, to host (fund) a 'Ladies Night' with invited non-Masonic guests to celebrate his 'assumption'. These were extremely 'lascivious' 'themed' affairs with food, music and entertainment with prizes (not bottles of Pomagne) with the proceeds going to fund the Lodge's charitable causes and every 'Ladies Night' was expected to be more extravagant (ie expensive) than the previous one. Dad said that his mate's cost £30K (in the late 80's) which he borrowed from the Lodge's Treasurer who was also the Treasurer of 'The Club'...[/ANECDOTE]
Agree. I doubt it factors in that Labour will likely not seriously run candidates in areas where only the Lib Dems can beat the Tories.
Wow. The Tories putting the 'party' back into party politics (again): Traces of suspected cocaine found after parties in Liz Truss’s grace-and-favour house, say staff
Loved how he got increasingly more flushed each time LK told him outright he was peddling ‘untruthful’ facts. I mean, LK’s not exactly anti-Tory.
Sums up the accuracy of accusations that the BBC is 'left-biased'. You only need to look at the rumpus caused in 2017 & 2019 by her broadcasts.
They (the Tories) are gone. Next GE Labour will romp it unless Corbyins mob put a spoke in the works . Voting for a party that is the least worst option is where we are at , which is not good .
But the worst of all are the "affluent guilt " mob . Pretend to care but their aim is to diflect their privilege onto others. Mostly those less well off than them . Lovely people . Sarcasm .
Always good to see an MP meeting the people - especially people such as a human rights activist from Bahrain: https://www.theguardian.com/politic...tory-mp-bob-stewart-over-alleged-racial-abuse
This is what happens when voters stop holding politicians accountable for long swathes of time. Thankfully, we seem to have reached a breaking point.
The only problems being that parts are no longer available and no one is trained up to do the repairs. At this point I think I'll settle for a store credit.
No. This is just the latest interpretation of "They're all the same". What's need is to finally 'bin' all the conventions that parliamentarians hold so dear. We've seen that flouters of these conventions have been laughing at the toothless standards enforcement. Lying to the house - offence and bang 'em up. Paid lobbying - offence and bang 'em up. Second jobs - only in extenuating circumstances. Sexual assault - no longer in the hands of the party whips. The sergeant at arms to literally be given enforcement powers.
