  5. The loathsome Johnson toady Conor Burns has been sacked as trade secretary and had whip withdrawn for gross misconduct at party conference. Pincher mk2?

He's used to go and see old Thatch when she became clinically demented. Tells you everything you need to know about his character.

The new mantra, the brave warriors against the anti-growth coalition. Truly pathetic. Anyone wanting to justify this current growth, growth, growth lot, needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

How long before a Tory MP tries to get one as an intern followed by a later apology for inappropriate behaviour brought on by medication and excess booze.

If you listen to LBC and can go on "catch up", it's worth playing the start of Andrew Marr's interview with Max Hastings this evening (about 20 minutes in). His opinion regarding the current state of the Tory party is fascinating.

On meeting Truss for her weekly audience King Chuck is heard to mumble "Dear Oh Dear". This has been explained as a verbal tick to help a conversation flow, which would normally have been corrected with years of painful aversion therapy. I assume the tick will be evident every time he meets her.

What are the Tory options now? It’s almost impossible to see one that works.

    Options.

Truss continues - but she is already ridiculed and has lost the confidence of most Tory MPs let alone the voters.

Boris returns - being widely talked about even though the alleged constituency MP is on a lecture tour of the States for the moolah (of course). Sections of the Party would be triumphant at his return, but it is very difficult to see even larger sections of the voters forgiving and forgetting. He would be immediately mired once more in his lies.

Another leader? - A new leadership contest would be pure civil war, with the Brexit Truss side blaming the Sunak side for knifing both Johnson and Truss. It would need a unifier, possibly Mordaunt. But she would inherit all the difficulties Truss cannot deal with or has created.

The final one is that Truss goes for a General Election. But that would be a kamikaze move and surely they would never do anything like that?

Of these, I would have thought option 3 has the best chance of success, but not that much chance.

Someone needs to make it law that a new leader means a General Election. Personally, I vote for the best person locally and policy, but I'd wager that most vote based on the party and PM.

I've made my feelings on Liz Truss pretty clear on here - but it wouldn't be quite so sore if she had won a GE (not convinced she would have done).

Too late now. Damage is done.

There'd be more justification for the current system if the new leader was committed to implementing the policies within their party's manifesto on which they fought the GE.

I just remembered something from this week's PMQs. The Speaker seemed to be very lenient with Truss. Particularly on one occasion when SKS asked a sensible question and Truss made no attempt to answer, instead immediately launching into a question back to SKS about something totally unrelated.

I am sure I remember Johnson being ticked off by the Speaker for similar behaviour.

I think it's worth reiterating that this is a government with an 80 seat majority.

If anybody still believes they are incompetent and not doing this all on purpose then I have a bridge to sell you. Follow the money for answers.

Depends who you mean by "they".

Definitely think there are people who are influencing decisions by the Government for personal gain (follow the donor's money for answers). But I've little doubt that Truss, Johnson are useful idiots who are absolutely incompetent.

Their paymasters went short on the pound becasue they knew it would tank then they made profits again when it bounced back briefly. They are not useful idiots they are bought and paid for. Truss, Kwateng and all the others know they will be looked after and get paid more than what they are earning now when they leave politics. It is absolutely ridiculous anybody thinks they are just ******* things up because they are stupid. The real people in control made billions.

Ok, you believe what you want but I guarantee these so called idiots will pop up in well paid jobs within organisations that they helped during their time in power within five years. Cameron wasnt an idiot, Boris wasnt an idiot, May wasnt an idiot, Truss isnt an idiot. The press will want you to believe they are idiots but it has all been planned to make the elite more money. Evil, calculting, not caring psychopaths would be a better way of describing them.

The guy welcomed Jeremy Hunts appointment as Chancellor as a wise decision......... Plenty of crooks on both sides of the aisle to answer your other point. A peoples parliament free of party politics is the only way forward. Take the chance to game the system away from the powerful lobbyists.
