Beat Brighton or bust for me. I'm not sure my health can take this much longer! If we do win, I will take HB's route to survival more seriously!

Perhaps Gandalf will be last throw of the dice for Gino if he panics and we only stay up by winning our last 6 games!

We're down already, I don't know why people are convincing themselves otherwise. Even the club have accepted relegation judging by the January business.

I think it’s going to be very hard to avoid relegation, and I simply don’t think we have the personnel to be able to do it.

Although survival is looking slimmer by the week , things can change quickly .

Norwich looked done for , couple of wins and they are back in the mix .

Newcastle despite dominating the transfer headlines have a squad that is probably worse than ours ( especially now Trippier is out ) have just got 11 points from 5 games .

It pains me to say but Howe has really turned them around . Hodgson is a better manager than that smarmy faced **** so there is still room for hope .

Roy has more to do in less time so it’s a big ask but greater escapes have happened .

How about us fans rally around and actually support our team rather than hoping we lose .

Personally I'm hoping we get less than 24 points.

    Nobody ?

I think we both know that’s not true .

If I could be bothered it wouldn’t take me long to find a number of posts stating exactly that. Amazing that this has to be explained to you for the 100th time .

On the rare moments I’ve been foolish enough to open up the toxic lid of the Pandorras ShoutBox there have been plenty of examples .

I thought we’d beat Brighton. Went with a positive attitude. Was gutted we didn’t. Must admit I’m a bit despondent now but I still want us to beat Villa.

I think all posters despite their jokes still want the 3 points on matchday. Maybe I’ve misjudged.

Despite being a hardcore BW I actually said just before the Brighton game in the match thread I thought we’d win. Who knew that what you write on an anonymous message forum actually has no bearing on results at all.

As much as it’s obvious, we need to string a few results together. Norwich did it earlier in the season with their change in manager and more recently Newcastle.
Roy has changed the system recently now Sarr is back but time is running out for the players to settle into their responsibilities in this system. I think this has delayed an upturn in results. Big teams to come over the next few weeks. Can’t continue to grab points one week then ship 4 goals next match. Still in with a shout. Everton most likely to drop in our place if we can somehow become a bit more consistent in our performances, a big if though ….

I’d say Leeds and Brentford are far more likely to be in danger by the end of the season than Everton, they’ve got significantly better players than the other two. More then happy to be completely wrong though.

Unfortunately we said beat Norwich and then beat Brighton and then beat Palace, and we will be on our way, we shouldn’t be anywhere near “ in with a shout “ but the table says we are, realistically our home form and performances says we aren’t! Stranger things have happened and I would love us to stay up but I’m not getting my hopes up yet!

Maybe I’m more hopeful of Everton going down than anything. Leeds are letting too many in. Personally don’t rate Lampard, Newcastle seem to be sorted now so they’re the next big team that may take the tumble!

I see we agree 19tgg as I said as much yesterday.

However I see that Leeds have finally sacked Bielsa which might mean they tighten up at the back and that could be worrying for us :(

I would definitely rather Bielsa had stayed on as they had descended into a shambles, however I think they’ll still probably struggle whoever takes over. They have a couple of good players, most notably Raphinha, but I think there are big question marks about the quality of the rest of their squad. They’re mostly championship players who did well in a specific system, but much like Sheffield Utd once that system fails or is found out there isn’t necessarily a huge amount there to work with.

I think another factor here is Bielsa playing such a specific system, with very specific instructions that have been drilled into the squad for the last few years. You’d imagine it’ll take whoever comes in quite some time to begin implementing genuine changes.

I see they’ve been linked with Marsch, who I believe comes from a similar school of high-press, chaos football, but as a manager new to the league and taking on a club in such dire form, it’s a big ask if he’s the guy.

I think they’ll go down. With us, naturally.

I don’t know much about him but from what I’ve read he only really did well at Saltzburg, but then not so well at Leipzig. I’m sure some of the ITK stattos on here can shed some light on it though.

I’ve also read Leeds have American owners and the appointment is as much about him being American as anything else, so let’s hope that is true.

They didn’t speak of him too highly on the Talksport European show last night has to be said.

Leipzig are doing much better now since he left.

Mind you different expectations - probably only has to put together a few wins and Leeds will be ok.

So after this weekend's round of matches, here are the final predicted points totals for the bottom 7 clubs, taken from their season points average.

    14. Newcastle 41
    15. Brentford 37
    16. Everton 35 (will drop to 33 if they lose tonight)
    17. Leeds 32
    18. Burnley 31
    19. Watford 27
    20. Norwich 24

As you can see, it's looking likely it will be a very low points total this season to stay up. Seeing as we've got to play Leeds, Burnley, Everton and Brentford at home, we could really pull ourselves out of it, albeit by the skin of our teeth.

If we get something from our next two away games, which is not unthinkable considering how resolute we appear to be on the road, then I still believe we've got a realistic chance of staying up. Put it this way, if we win those 4 home games I mentioned, I think we will stay up.

We are not in the slightest bit “resolute on the road”.

    I beg to differ.

This is our away record. Only 4 clubs (City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Wolves) have conceded fewer away goals than us. That seems pretty resolute to me.
