Today, of course, the office air con failed.

Same at my place. Maintenance bloke went up on roof and said temp was 57 in the sun.

I can tell you that these underpants I’m wearing won’t be getting a run out tomorrow, that’s for sure.

Thankfully our air con at work is still working. I think it's only fair as I have to jump on the Jubilee line from Finchley Road to Canary Wharf to get to work. As most are aware, its an effing sweatbox on that line.

Little children do not cope very well in heat.
I'm taking a 'Tennis For Kids' course ,age 5-9 this week at the club. It's 10-11am and one little lad,'home educated'* has arrived on three of the four days with no drink,no sun scream and no hat. His American mother wandered onto the mini red court on Tuesday, stopping the four players from playing and asked if it was worthwhile him continuing due to the heat.
I said 'yes, providing he comes correctly provided for'.
He didn't miss out as I brought factor 50 for them and provided water, but honestly, wake up woman!
The other children listen well and had plenty of stops for water and have been great.
Meanwhile in Enfield at a multi sports camp where I'm delivering the tennis the little children are shot to pieces.
The teenagers are fine and mainly very lovely. I especially like Micah who beamed when I told him I used to watch a footballer with his name.
One of the helpers is Kenny who used to be on Watford's books. Looks a bit like Isaac!
    * an oxymoron in my experience.

If there's one thing social media has taught me, it's that literally everyone is boiling with rage because of dogs being walked in the heat. Not brexit, not austerity. Not child abuse. Dogs. Everyone everywhere is ******* flames because it's hot and there are dogs

Have these people not worked out why dogs need to be walked? They think they are going to stop shitting just because it's hot?

How is the museum these days?

Presumably 22nd century hyper interactive, it’s all holograms.

The thrust of your message worries me, as it will all forumites of the right timbre.

    However, a broader point pertains.

You failed to apply a full stop at the end of your final sentence.

Decency suggests it & the rules of grammar require it.

Are you, or have you at any recent time been, a supporter of Everton Football Club?

My ‘data team’ (which I believe is actually a machine, surprisingly small, more like it would fit in your bottom drawer rather than take up a whole room) in Bangalore have brought it to my attention that the correlation between full stop deniers & ‘Toffees’ is almost perfect.

I put it to you, are you Wayne Rooney?

No air con so the temperature ends up being 30+ all day in the office, have given up using mine and have moved to cooler parts of the building.

The funny thing is, for some reason I always assume that it's just us Brits that are wholly unprepared for this kind of heat. But I'm in Amsterdam at the moment and the Dutch are completely the same.

Also, spare a thought for my 11 year old. She's in the Junior Choir at her school (so 11 - 14 yr olds) and they're doing a tour here. They all got to their school at 4.30am on Wednesday to set off. The coach then failed to start when prompted to do so at their required leaving time of 5am. The subsequent chain of events resulted in them missing their allocated shuttle and becoming stranded at the Eurostar terminal for so long that they had an impromptu rehearsal and people were trying to give them money as they passed by. The journey to Amsterdam took them 16 hours in the end!
Now they're here they are singing in a number of concerts in and around Amsterdam. Some friends and Mr HH and I went to the one yesterday afternoon, as it was in the City Centre where we are. Held in the English Church at 1pm, it was a beautiful concert but the Church was packed and well over 30 degrees - the girls have to wear black tights for these concerts and the boys long black trousers. Even the "fun" activities the kids are doing are challenging in the heat here - a canal cruise at 3pm that the school twitter account subsequently described as a "sauna cruise" and today a trip to a theme park where it's forecast to be 36 degrees.

As an aside, first time in Amsterdam for me - fab place.

    Daft bint!
I don't think I ever did shout at Micah.I did think that on occasions he wanted to be transported around the pitch in a sedan chair, but I don't think I shouted at him. However it was a long time ago!
    Rain tomorrow?

A forensic interrogation! I'm a pedantic defender of the English language but I rarely put a full stop at the end of my posts. You lnow they've finished because I don't write any more

I hope you don't think any fewer of me because of that.

    Simple & bold approach.

The missing full stops must be due to heat.

Once we drop to below 25 or so, I expect forumites to be wielding the ./!/? just as assiduously as they did before.

So when you do use a full stop does that mean it's an even more abrupt, definitive ending ? Has a full stop effectively replaced your exclamation mark ?

  32. Happy bunny

Happy bunny Cheered up a bit

A full stop separates stuff I've written from other stuff I've written. No full stop means I've finished and you can either press Like or close your electronic thing down

But you used a FS at the end of your post above that I quoted ??? Does that mean there's a missing sentence ? Or did you type one in yellow text that I can't see ?

Look.again at what I said in my penultimate para. Anyway, grammatical rules are made to be broken. Even mine
