I think what the Udine fans are saying about supporting Italy is more subtle than that. Italy as a unified country is a very modern thing. 1861 they unified I think. And before that they were a bunch of warring city states/principalities. There is still a lot of pride locally and the sense of Italianness is not the same as Enlgishness or even Britishness. ie: you show more attachment and allegiance to your region than your country. They even have their own language - Fruilian.

Hello! I'm a Roma fan but i think that Pozzo is one of the best football managers in Europe. What he has done at Udinese is a real miracle. For example this season they finished 3rd after having sold Sanchez, Zapata and Inler. A.S. Roma was the 5th team in Europe for money spent in the 11/12 summer transfer window and did not reach the CL spot. Only a little example of what they are capable to do. They really know how to operate with small budgets and generate massive income. Expect to be promoted in 1 or 2 years. Congratulations and good luck!
