I'm in a fairly good position to comment on this, as I've been a life-long Watford supporter for 48 years living in Hemel, although I moved to Peterborough 3 years ago for family reasons. I've been to quite a few Peterborough games and have seen Hector grow as a player. His partnership with Archie Collins has continued to develop in midfield and he was a very important player last season in midfield. When the Peterborough captain, Harrison Burrows, left to join Sheff Utd at the start of this season, Peterborough made him captain, which was felt by pretty much all supporters as the correct decision considering his impact and importance to the team. This season, Hector didn't start as great and also had some injuries. He looked more like the player from last season in the last few months and scored the crucial second goal against Birmingham in the Vertu trophy final. Peterborough have missed him when he's been called up for Cyprus if they've had to play a game as they've not always been called off. He works hard, will pop up with the odd goal and I feel he will flourish in the Watford side. I was disappointed to hear that he wasn't going to sign a new contract at Peterborough and leave on a free, although he is certainly better than a typical league 1 standard player. Hearing he is close to sign for Watford though is encouraging and I feel he will do well.
I was about to ask. Or was he ever going to sign? Let’s hope this wasn’t just a rumour that got out of hand.
