Edit: hadn't seen this had already been posted in the Newcastle thread. Apologies.

Hilariously low fee but we have got rid of a couple of players for very small amounts already.

Yes the verified tick doesn't mean much when it comes to Turkish media thankfully.

Probably nothing in it but forcing a guy who won our player of the season in the prem, to play out of position in the champ, might not be the best way to ensure we retain him.

Trying out a player for one or two friendly games while we await our new RWB (who is currently undergoing his medical) is hardly “forcing [him] to play out of position in the Champ” though is it? This is pre-season, a chance for the manager to learn as much as possible about the squad. Edwards knows that Kamara is a quality LWB and will be our absolute first choice there. What he wants to determine is if he’s a passable RWB too so could fill in there if availability demands and if other players (most of all Sema) are adequate LWBs who he can trust (or otherwise should be shipped out). Is this such a major issue?

This is a concern. We buy for €4m and sell for €1.6m a few months later. It has all the hallmarks of the type of deal the club like doing. Losing €2.4m on a transfer in only 8 months could be very tempting to them.

They made about that on the Zinkernagel deal so it's breaking even if you think about it. Good business.

Selling him for that price would be indescribably incompetent and shambolic, so I fully expect it to be confirmed in the next few days and to have to watch Sema painfully fumble his way around the pitch the entire season.

Can’t wait for next Monday when we actually have some proper football to discuss rather than nonsensical Turkish website rumours that seem to bring out the pessimism in people.

There’s no way we would sell him at that price. End of. And don’t be replying saying it would be typical Watford etc, because it wouldn’t.

Hopefully Gaspar passes his medical and will be announced soon, and we can look forward to he and Kamara as wing-backs this season. An exciting prospect.

If one Turkish dude tweeted that we were signing say Kim Min Jae (with whom we were formerly linked - an excellent CB) for an implausibly small fee (say €1.6m) would all the so-called COGS be out in force saying “Gino has done it again” and “outstanding business” etc? Or do you think that more positive group of fans would say something more like “would be excellent if true but it definitely isn’t.” Like that example, this quite obviously doesn’t pass the smell test.

Some of our fans are so desperate to believe the worst that they have surrendered all critical faculties. There are/have been occasions to get worked up about things this summer and in recent years but at least wait until the supposed transfer progresses beyond one tweet from a Turkish reporter.

Stick him up front and I genuinely think he'd bag 20 goals.

He's ace and too good for us.

I'm sure the club would hate to lose and not replace Kamara but it's only natural that he would prefer to be closer to his family in Turkey and the hierarchy would be incredibly mean to stand in his way.

It’s why the media do it.

Make transfers rumours up to get clicks and people talking about it..

And often combusting with rage at the thought of it happening even though it probably won’t.

I can't keep track. You had one or two people say you were negative and now you're full blown clapper. You're like that WD18 lad on the Tweets.

    1.6m euros hahahaha.

I wouldn’t respond to that bid either, unless they’ve accidentally put the decimal point one place too far to the left.

Several people run my account and it just depends who is on duty on the relevant day!

I was negative about the signing of Manaj, based on his previous goal scoring record. I’m positive about the signing of Gaspar as I think he will bring much needed experience to our back line.

I refuse to be negative about an unauthorised Turkish rumour account claiming we will allow last season’s POTS to leave us a week before the season for a pittance.

I don’t subscribe to the COGS v Bedwetter debate. For me, each different piece of news can be treated on merit, with a negative or positive reaction depending on what the actual news comprises of.

It's Gino's Turkish cousin making these bids. Learning from the master of hilariously low bids that get slapped back into his face.
