Well derby day is nearly upon us again and i ve come on here in peace, yes Luton is a dump and the kenny is old and seen better days to put it politely but the place does rock and the atmosphere most home games is brilliant.. im not here to wind you lot up, im an older fan, my first derby was at yr greyhound track in late 1970 when mike keen (your future manager scored ) in a narrow 1-0 win for the hatters. I was 10 at the time and idolised malcolm macdonald (supermac). I never visited vicarage road again until 1979 (as a 19 year old) when Kirk (basher) Stevens scored in front of our travelling fans at the old Rookery end.. i also went to most of the derbys in the 80 s in including a 5-2 humbling on good friday and a fine match when you beat us 4-3 in a cup replay.. (Barnes and Walsh) were the two best players on the park that night.. I was also at the Kenny on oct 4th to witness yr 4-0 massacre of our youth team.. think Mr Taylor felt sorry for us and stopped at 4 at half time.. I was also there the night of when Matty Spring scored his "worldy" and the riot.
Since those day s our two clubs moved in opposite directions . my team went non league for 5 seasons whilst your team reached the promised land of the prem.. both our clubs have changed and we came back stronger after our 5 year stay in the conference and retained our soul as we are run by proper fans and your club has lost its way and soul under the pozzos. on sunday you might well beat us as you have better players than us but i know my team will give their all and play with spirit .. its not at times pretty to watch but this team can win ugly.. our manager plays to our strengths and its a bit like Graham Taylor back in the day as he knew he did nt have the best players and had to play a certain way to win games in the old div 1 ,, any way here s to a good game Sunday lunchtime,, as i said we might not beat you but Mr Bilic will know his team have been given a game.. Cheers And COME ON YOU HATTERS!!!!!

If you lot don’t score at least 4 against us on Sunday, you should do the right thing and disown your club for the massive public humiliation.

Thanks. Sounds like it could be a fascinating match.

I’m not familiar with some of the references you use, such as the ‘Kenny’ (I don’t think he played for Luton, but I could be wrong). But the ‘conference’ you went to sounds like a positive experience. Will you be going again? Must have been a good conference to stay for 5 years.

Was trying to be civil.. now while we were in the conference you had a chance to win a major trophy .. you did nt,, and you never sold yr alloction of tickets for yr 6-0 mauling v man city . we took 42000 for a paintpot trophy final to wembley,, you also had a chance to overtake us for the number of seasons played in the top league....you did nt and what galls a lot of you is we re in the same league as you again and doing well with a team that cost a fraction of yours.... yr lot were walking out at half time at millwall which tells me yr support would ve melted away being in the conference for 5 years like we were.. ours stuck with us.. watford have also lost their soul under the pozzos.. im so glad my club is run by real fans and not a lot of overseas people that dont know how to run a football club .. all they seem to do is sack managers. .im proud of my club just as watford fans were when you went from 4th to first div in 5 years.. not trying to offend , just being a fan .

Actually very respectful and honest so thank you. To be completely honest with you, I wouldn't even fear our side at the moment. You could not of picked a better time to play us - ravaged by injuries, work experience in defence, no RWB, or any fit CB's, a keeper who is in love with the goal line and we have just lost one of our best players to what will be long term injury. I can see barely breaking a sweat on Sunday, and to go along with all the things I have said already, there is probably about two of our current playing staff who know what the Derby Day means to us as fans. Nobody else on our side will give a damn come FT win, lose or draw. Sarr and Pedro are all the unique quality we have left in midfield (Apsrilla is good but inconsistent) and our attack is powder puff. Deeney is long gone now, another player who "got" Sunday as a game.

All I ask for personally is for your fans' to keep distruption down to a minimum at least.

Have a good game and enjoy the three points - our cowards won't care either way.

Derby games should partly be a bit about banter and you did come on with a fairly positive approach towards a conversation about Sunday’s game. And whilst I agree we have lost our way under the Pozzos, claiming your club has retained its roots / soul even when in the conference etc is a little embarrassing considering what happened in that game v York. Clearly you’ve retained that side of your club as well. And no doubt some poor families are going to get caught up in a repeat of what we’ve seen previously this Sunday.

Here’s hoping that’s not the case and it’s a fantastic atmosphere. Even for this one game I would imagine all Watford fans will forget our owners for 90 minutes and fingers crossed we pull off a decent performance!

I’m not so sure Lu**n town is such a big derby to younger fans come on we haven’t played you in front of a crowd for nearly twenty years. I work with a lot of Lu**n supporters and it’s a big thing to them I believe not so much us but maybe I’ve got that wrong. Probably be a crap game not much talent on show so one I’m personally not too bothered about out from wanting to win of course

Fair play, can't argue that Luton fans have stayed true to themselves and kept their identity through all these years. They know what they're about and where their roots are and that's exactly why they regularly chant Tommy Robinson's name at games.

    That said, f*ck off @Hemelad

(You seem decent enough but I’m not taking the chance and frankly, I place my hatred of your lot above pretty much anything else to do with this club….and I hate a lot about it right now.)

No need to be offended Hemelad, I know you have made a half decent fist of being civil, and don’t think I was being uncivil. You were in the conference for 5 years. It’s true, and you brought it up. We have no soul. You brought that up too, in your civil post. It’s fine. I feel the same way about Watford now. We lack soul and identity. And spirit. And you’ll see that on Sunday. Our players will be there in body only. As I said, it’s going to be fascinating.

Hemel Lad - Thr word "lad" can mean a young person, but the fact you went to a game in 1970 says you must be well into your 60s and yet you still consider yourself a bit of a "lad". That can only be in the sense of a football thug.

You spell out your bristling pride at being a part of a club hugely despised around the football leagues for their fascistic and racist chanting, pitch invasions and attacks on innocent families and opposition supporters who are just there to watch the game. In your list of the pluses and minuses of following that club, that aspect is noticeably absent.

Contemplating the semi-literate, antidiluvian, aggressively written grunts that fill your message board, it's very evident that the prototype of a L*ton supporter is something that hasn't changed over the decades Whether you've been in first division or conference.

Perhaps you could tell us a little about how you feel about that.? Could you tell us whether you personally have joined in the thuggery and racism? Whether you're proud or ashamed? How you feel about the prospect of definitely going to hell?

HI..im hot a racist or a thug, i love terrace banter and hearty rivalry but never been part of the "undercurrent" of hooliganism, i ve seen it going on but never got involved.. i d also like to say unfortunately there will be trouble sunday but i think watford possibly have a few unsavoury characters in their crowd as well as Luton that will be looking for trouble on the day, I also think what i ve read on here that a lot of Watford fans are over reacting hysterically about our visit, i mean boarding up the Graham statue was to me "excessive caution" (we re not Millwall or a 70s Chelseaesque Mob), many of you seem to think our fan base is made up of 1980s style football factory thugs, Luton is a family club with very loyal fans and there is one man who a lot of Luton fans despise who is racist and the former leader of the EDL that gave our fans a bad name as "racist" and how can that be true as some of our best players ever have been black ..ie Ricky Hill and Brian Stein and they were idolised..As for The former leader of the EDL .. ive seen our own fans angrily stop other Luton fans Chanting EDL and his name at away games . Also coming from Hemel a lot of my friends are Wfc fans, im all for Healthy Rivalry as in singing myself hoarse as i will Sunday but diplore thuggery and violence, im a dad too and hate the idea of any families getting attacked. any way hope its a good game on sunday played in a great atmosphere and i hope we win of course as being a Luton fan i dont like Watford .. Oh and im not a pikey and dont live in a caravan, Cheers

We have a fair few regulars on this forum from visiting teams.

dsr - a Burnley fan who seems pretty knowledgable and is an alright guy.
ToffeeBlue - a decent Everton fan who speaks highly of the lows and highs of his club, open and honest.
Filbert - sort of forum VIP at this point. A Leicester City fan who is a regular and pretty funny with good banter.

There is also to my knowledge a Brighton fan and a Palarse fan - both are pretty one dimensional and only used to appear when their respective sides beat us for a wind up.

Hi, I reckon it could be a 1-1 draw , however im worried that watford will never play as badly as at Millwall and we get the backlash, I make watford the favourites due to the quality they have, Luton in comparison have players that will fight like street dogs and play with passion (a bit like an 80s Graham Taylor team) Luton play to their strengths and what ever the result Watford will know they ve been in a game... Players to look out for,, Elijah Adebayo and Carlton Morris up front,, also i like your old boy Henry Lansbury, Alan Campbell in midfield never stops running also Jordan Clarke too. Tom Lockyer at the back and our wing backs Amiri Bell and James Brie.. However I do worry about our Centre Back Sonny Bradley he s got no pace and milk turns quicker!!! Also Forgot to mention Dan Potts, Very steady.. But Morris has been a great signing and alongside Adebayo i believe we have one of the best attacking pairings in the championship... Crowd Trouble?? I think the flashpoints are going to be in and around the two wetherspoons that are going to be open and also the designated away pub next to the junction, I think thats a daft idea to open them all..Hopefully the Police will be on top of things and reduce trouble to its minimum.. i know/realise both clubs have fans that will be looking for trouble but this unfair stigma Luton fans have with their watford counterparts is way wrong.. our fans might be boisterous passionate and noisey but they are not a millwall or 80s Chelsea..

It's amazing how many times we hear from opposition fans and pundits that Watford have a strong, talented squad of high quality. We do not. Even with all the evidence this season, it seems nobody outside of Vicarage Road has realised we're ****.

Other than João Pedro and the perma-injured Imran Louza, we have nobody I'd be worried about as an opposition fan. Sarr is great on his day, but his day is twice a season. Kamara is alright, but only looks good because the rest of our defence is awful. Asprilla gets an honourable mention, but without solid CMs around him he can't play his creative game.

Make no mistake, this squad would be bottom of the PL.
