Has anyone heard the rumour that some Guy on social media who reckons he has access to the large (qualifying) flag of the owner, is planning to bring it to the first home game with `an appropriate message` emblazoned on it. I thought it was owned by the 1881 and doubt they would wish to be associated with that sort of behaviour - but nothing surprises me nowadays.
Yes - do you know if it is held securely somewhere? There is a large space below his head that a miscreant could use for an expletive.
Can you imagine how smug Gino must have been when that was unraveled, knowing he had the peasants in the palm of his hand.
In all honesty I have absolutely no idea. I am guessing, like you said one of the 1881 has it or it's given to them on occasion from the club. If this is indeed true, it will no doubt be stamped out just as the banners were end of last season. My own view on this cluh philosophy has not changed.
I was never entirely happy about the glorification of the owner with this flag, as we have seen how opinions can change very fast. The club have made themselves look foolish by trying to ban protests - instead of establishing a dialogue and good communications with those who hold the club close to their hearts. There have been times in the past when a real unity of purpose was evident across all parties, but those are long gone, and even promotion will not erase the hurt felt by some, but can you imagine the response if we were relegated?
Just needs some massive velcro numbers so that the club's current debt can be displayed at each game.
Given that the 1881 didn’t manage to unfurl a pillow case with a protest message on it at the last home game the chances of getting a modified version of this one out are less than nil, I'd say
Have any other clubs done a flag of their owners like that? Possibly clubs with squillionaire owners laundering their image or local boys done good?
Cringed at the time, cringe even more thinking about it now. And that's not just because he looks like a Muppet or Sesame Street character on the banner.
"It's time to sell the club Poz It's time to do what's right It's time for new beginnings On the Watford flag tonight. To introduce our finance is what he's here to do But we never hear a Scooby Scooby Doobie Do! It's time to buy a ticket, Heathrow to Udine We need communication Pozzo what you say?"
