I feel sorry for Ben really. He’s been totally undermined on this one by Gino. I heard Ben wanted to give Giaretta a 6 year deal but Gino put his foot down and said no.

 

Think I posted this before but heard from a Watford staff member that GC is not very well liked by most at the club. Apparently is 'always watching' and can always be seen watching in the distance and drifting around the training ground, seemingly doing not very much

 

Not too much of a surprise staff and players get perturbed by a vampire constantly looming in the shadows, ready to run to Gino and undermine whatever they're doing based on a track record of fucckk all whenever he feels like it.

 

Probably a little errand boy for Gino who runs backs to him with all the gossip and whispers from the squad and staff he otherwise wouldn't know of.

Possibly, but the rumour was that Gino wanted to get rid of him, but that Pozzo Senior would not allow `his spy` to be removed.

 

Utterly absurd decision. The litany of failures to do any due diligence on incoming transfers alone should be enough to ensure Giaretta never works in football again.

Does he actually really do anything though? It seems he's mostly Pozzo's eyes and ears, and maybe there to help with some continuity of information while we constantly change other staff?

 

The fact he doesn’t do anything is what saves him. There’s nothing that he’s supposed to do, and therefore nothing he can be sacked for doing poorly. He does nothing perfectly.

 

Which is disgraceful for a company that is in such a poor financial state. Also reckless is continually retaining Duxbury on his premier league salary irrespective of finances.

This broken club needs to make savings at all levels.

Don't worry. If they sack enough low paid staff, employ more unpaid interns and screw some more cash out of fans they will be able to retain these essential executives.

 

His salary is still likely relative peanuts in the grander scheme of things for a high level football club.
