Basically printing free money for us so we can get back to the Prem. Did find an article that said Udinese rejected their €13mil offer. Deulofeu has agreed personal terms, just the fee that needs to be sorted. Apparently Udinese are looking for somewhere between €15-20mil. Obviously they don’t need to pay us the money they owe us on the deal first before they reinvest any of it into their our squad as what’s their is ours and what’s ours is theirs.

 

He was allegedly meant to re-sign for us at the start of the season. He refused. Plane was chartered and everything.

Are Udinese trying to get relegated? Finally made a move towards mid-table after several seasons of just avoiding relegation. Deulofeu is the difference.

 

You must know the strategy by now, sell the good ones and nail the absolutely awful ones down on five year deals and continuous extensions.

 

To be fair, they sold De Paul and didn’t really suffer.

Udinese’s modus operandi has always been to sell their best players at close to peak value and then build up a replacement - they had an iffy few years but they seem back on track with their methods. They are much better at it than we are.

 

I think their methods work fine in Italy as the difference between top and bottom is only €60m in prize money, their issue is thinking they can take what they do there and do exactly the same thing in England and expect it to work in the same way (and then when it doesn’t just keep doing it anyway). Gino is clearly better with a smaller budget and when he can out perform clubs who have very similar budgets, which is a lot of Serie A.

Well yes, but I was trying not to get into the comparison too much. I was merely countering the idea that selling Deulofeu will knacker Udinese, when actually it’s a tactic they’ve used for a number of years to good effect.
