A club that potentially could have climbed 5 divisions in a period where we’ve ultimately ended up back where we started.
And I understand could have gone into administration had we not gone up although not sure how true that is or just OTT hyperbole. Not exactly a sign of a club at ease with it's finances and long term planning though. Guess that is what the Premier league does to you - short term thinking and lots of panic spending (in our case with very mixed results) Whereas Luton have been able to spend wisely and with the new ground coming plan for the future . Also their ex manager coming back has certainly worked for them!
Wait, when was this? That's insane - disgusts me to say it, but Luton are about as well-run a club as it's possible to be at this point, having brought themselves back from oblivion to third place in the Championship with eight games to go, all completely within a meagre budget and without the constant loss making of most of their competitors, including ourselves. You'd have to be delusional to deny that.
It was their pompous reply when busy arguing why they weren’t bothered about Luton replacing us in premier league. Luton aren’t stable. Scott is. Do you not use debt when you run YOUR business?
Is that the deleted tweet in the chain with Talk? If so, that's shockingly embarrassing. Even if not, it still is, to be fair. How smoothbrained can you be? I genuinely don't get it - it's propaganda level shyte. In what way is Scott stable, and Luton not? What is the argument?!? Other than via official title in conjunction with Gino, obviously.
This, I'm guessing? Desperate copium. What's weirder is that elements of the original back and forth between them and Talk, as evidenced on this very page last night, are no longer visible on the Twitter thread itself
The biggest issue will be spending money to upgrade the ground to make it fit for purpose. They'd probably have to spend a bit of money doing that which might not be ideal given they are due to move soon anyway. But you can never tell how a club will do really - only needs a good manager and some shrewd signings to have a good go.
Also interested to know what kind of time they would classify us as having 'up there' right now, tbqph
He has hardly put them right, though has he? Luton Town's infrastructure is not even comparable to ours and certainly won't be good enough for the Premier League. Kenilworth Road Stadium is perhaps the worst ground in the football league and makes Bournemouths look like the Nou Camp. They were supposed to move into the Powercourt last season, but it still wasn't being built the last time I checked. Their ground does not support football at the premier league level, and they would struggle significantly. To even have a chance of survival at Premier league, they would need to invest way more than they have on their bank balance, and the likelihood is they would still get relegated. The wages and cost of players would cripple Luton.
All of this isn’t really relevant to whether they can survive in the Premier League really. You’ve said a lot without saying anything
The original post was about Luton leapfrogging us in the league and Leaventhals post stated ''They'll only leapfrog us for a little bit and will have a terrible time." What you have done is said they are a really well run club off the pitch and not really backed it up. If anything Leventhal is correct Luton don't currently have the foundations or resources. I think people are getting a bit carried away yes they are having a good season but how long is it likely to last?
They are as well placed as us. They can either run up massive debt like we did or they can take the money and run. Suggesting there is enough difference between our two tinpot grounds to make a difference to relative prospects is extremely far fetched.
Well it does matter, in the sense it's attributing words/sentiments to someone that they didn't express - either way, you claim that people are getting carried away because they're 'having a good season', but how much do you actually know about their balance sheet and how the club is run these days? I'd be surprised if you'd chuck out such accusations if the answer is 'an appropriate amount to claim knowledge on the subject'.
Luton are not going yo do anything until the Powercourt is built and God knows when that will be. They don't have the foundations and infrastructure at the moment. Taking the money and running would be their best option. They are not as well places as us.
It don't matter it was posted by FTRE who Leventhal is associated with. I have spoken to plenty of Luton fans and the vast majority would agree that they are a long way off. Many Luton fans that I know think that promotion would be a bad thing for them at this stage as they don't have the resources or infrastructure and finances.
Currently they are better placed, because their owners haven’t saddled them with a vast amount of debt. At least they have a clean slate to start from in the unlikely event they were promoted.
I don’t understand what you mean by not having foundations. Both of us have small grounds. Both of us have poor youth systems. If they come up they get the TV money like anyone else.
Obviously I have no idea, but I strongly suspect that if Luton go up they’ll do a Norwich and just bank the money. That will then instantly put them in a better position than we’re now ever likely to be under Pozzo ownership going forward. Their ground is crap but so is ours relatively speaking.
In the period where they have climbed through 5 decisions there is little more that we could have achieved. 6 years in the EPL and a cup final. If we go down I still think we are better off as a club than we were when they started their ascendancy
The two grounds are miles apart. Ours is twice the size or more and although it's not the greatest ground in the world it is streets ahead of that toilet of a ground.
2024 at the earliest and that was with the proviso that building work started early this year. It has a bit of the Kohlerdome feel about it!
FTRE used to be a fairly decent listen. Now they have all turned into pompous ****s who appear to represent the club and not the supporter. More of a football programme than a fanzine in paper talk...
If we played Luton this weekend, hypothetically, full strength, league game, who do you think would win? They do have an awful ground but their players and manager seem to have got them to about where we were last season. And I suspect on the pitch they are a lot more stable than us in terms of style.
Please can posters not compliment L*ton anymore, please thank you. It makes me feel a bit queezy and little bits of sick come in to my mouth. Powercourt indeed! Tossers. PowerPoint show is about as far as that'll ever get.
