WD Sports is essentially the clubs b*tch.

If the club is trying to conduct their transfer business in private, I fully expect that they would tell WD Sports that we are not interested. If we wanted to apply pressure, or if we had agreed terms with a player before having an offer accepted, I'd fully expect us to use WD Sports to make it public.

Either Opti is making this all up and it miraculously got picked up by the press a year later, Vazquez does not want to join us/ wants too high wages or the club wants to act stealthily. Either way, the WD Sports article most likely tells us absolutely nothing.

 

Sorry, they do not say that. They say they understand we are not in for him, which, in press terms is very different to an absolute negative. It says that they have been told so without accepting either way whether the source is sincere, or possibly playing down the link in order to avoid what has happened with Pereyra.

Remember, in the past, when WDS have been adamant about a situation, they have not been shy to say, as indeed they do with Pereyra. Just given the absolute nature of their report on one player, the lesser surety about the other suggests in itself that there may be something more to it.

I don't say this to cling to hopes he may sign him, just to highlight the possibility that if it turns out we are in for any of these players, it would be wrong to claim that WDS said we weren't. They have just passed on what they have heard from a source that is keeping its hand close to its chest.

 

Vazquez is quoted as saying... "Look, man. I only need to know one thing: where they are"

 

Nothing new my end I'm afraid. All I know for definite is we enquired last year and it was rumoured to be a swap deal. Palermo were not interested. We have enquired again this year and Palermo are interested in selling. He will not be a Palermo player at the start of the season. It fits nicely with articles that have popped up but I have no clue as to anything further.

Maybe I never should have bothered with this last year with the amount of stick I've received. Unlike others I have only ever passed on stuff I heard and this was the same with Tommy Smith. This and that thread are pretty much the only two I've ever made in this section and have been based on solid facts that I was told from a reliable source/sauce/sorce!

Yes you should!! I'm sure many people here (myself included) appreciated your posts on the topic. This is a section full of rumour and speculation and passing on of newspaper stories, many of which have little foundation anyway, so it's hardly a crime to post a tip off as you did.

If nothing else, your tip off led to WD asking the club!!

Disappointing to lose him. He has brightened up our lives over the last 12m and I for one will never forget his contribution. Shame he could only match but not beat Jurado's goals and assists stats.

 

Not that bothered about this one. It's like a very generic Latin name. Maybe if he had charted a new route to the Dutch East Indies or something under the patronage of Queen Isabella then maybe, but as a footballer I don't see this working out.

 

Done deal with Sevilla according to Sky. Really puts the ridiculousness of the PL into perspective when you consider he only cost £12.5m.

 

That's less than muff paid for Ibe and only a few million more than Tyrone Mings

 

Can't believe we didn't try and do something at that price £12.5mil, didn't we just pay that for Success. I know money doesn't buy Success but in our case it does.

Anyway in shocked we weren't in for him. I hope the Pozzo's have an Ace card up their sleeves because until we sign that creative, goal scoring midfielder that we all know we desperately need, we will struggle to break into the top 10 this season if that is the objective.

I find it hard to believe that there would be much to convince him to come to us or West Brom over Europa League winners Sevilla.
