I mean he’s better on the ball in that he does the primary function of being a CB better. If he has a chance to clear his lines, he normally takes it and does nothing silly. That can’t be said for WTE. He knows he can’t do ambitious passes so doesn’t try. WTE knows he can’t do ambitious passes but does it anyway. So yeah, I’d say he’s better on the ball.
How much of that is down to managers' instructions though? For example, if we bought a CB who was comfortable on the ball, that would mean that WTE wouldn't have to try to be more expansive as he'd be the Sierralta in that partnership
I'm by no means making any grand claims about Sierralta's talent/progress ceiling, but it seems a tad harsh to judge him on his progression in the last two seasons when he was (to the outside observer) fairly inexplicably ostracised from the team for basically the entirety of last season. Tough to progress when you're basically not allowed to play a competitive game!
This is true. Hopefully he becomes more adept on the ball. It's something he can work on. The modern CB needs to be comfortable on the ball. And every side needs one. We don't have one. WTE thinks he's a libero but he's really a liability.
Kabs should be back soon as well, so CB is one position we have got decent cover for. But this season never stops giving.
