    Pure comedy genius.

You do know that the Democrats have attempted to do almost exactly the same thing many times previously, don't you. The only difference is that Capitol security was effective (rather than technically stood down) on those previous occasions, and the politicians who supported the alternatives (Maxine Waters, Adam Schiff, etc.) were not described as terrorist supporting insurrectionists, and threatened with magic sunpoenas.

I'm surprised Alex Jones is considered well enough to face any one in court. The bloke is clearly unhinged

He's also extremely wealthy - from all the shyte he flogs on his shows. He's always maintained that the money he makes from all that grifiting goes to fund his output - he let slip once that the, 4 hour long, shows cost him $45-50 million a year to produce (and don't forget that he was using 'free' channels such as youtube to transmit them). I heard Tom Walker/Joanthan Pie talk about how much he got to produce his weekly 3 min shows - he was getting paid by RT, in the early days, £400 a week.

This court case is the 3rd one?

I don't know much about him. I was introduced to his youtube output a few years ago by my son who found his lunatic delivery and barmy opinions amusing. The last I heard he was in some kind of institution for the emotionally tired.
That said I'd probably still rather listen to him than Jonathan Pie

It came out in the trial today that at one point in 2018 that Infowars was making $800k a day.

    Crazy.

I am of the opinion that his lawyer did it on purpose. The fact he didn't try and claim privilege after been notified speaks volumes.

Ouch $4.1M fine and $45M damages. That's a lot of 'product' to shift.

FBI warrant executed at Trump's Mar-A-Lago home today. Confirmed by the man himself.

I really hope this has got some substance, because if not, what a fantastic rallying call for his base.

The fact he still refers to himself as President speaks volumes about him.

Apparently the *big* thing at this years's CPAC is a piece of 'Installation Art' commemorating the 'victims' of the 6th Jan insurrection.

MTG has already had a staged photo-op prayed with the actor portraying the prisoner:

The said actor was convicted for offences at the insurrection and avoided jail by informing on as many people as possible.

In fairness that’s just a version of that bizarre American habit of calling someone by their title forever, even after they’ve left office. Seems to even apply to fairly lowly posts as well.

Not sure his base needed one to be honest. They’re locked in. The key question is how independents view it and that’s why the GOP have piled in to denounce it. It’s the first time they’ve lined up behind Trump since his post-election drivel broke his spell on the professional politicians.

Well the FBI has a Trump appointee as its head and a judge would have had to approve the search warrant. I suspect they know exactly what they are looking for.

What's the alternative - give him a free pass?

You don't raid a former US President's properties unless you're really, really sure.

Especially when you are calling the shots and were appointed by him.

I expect this is really, really bad for Trump. There is no way anyone would have agreed to let this go ahead unless they were certain.

Absolutely not, but simply, if this doesn’t end in charges it will add to his legend.

You might do it if you are so desperate to get at Trump that you didn’t recognise a set up when it was being offered.

Trump and his team know that the Dems are desperate enough to swallow any BS bate that is thrown into their gaping mouths. If there was nothing there, and the evidence for the raid is shown to be fake, the DOJ may have just kissed goodbye to the scant remains of its credibility.

They, it is said, appear to have been going after something very specific, most likely on the grounds of a “leak”. But apparently they were at Mar a Lago only a few months back with full cooperation. If their desperation has been played upon here, they only have themselves to blame.

If this is the case, it will be interesting to see what channel the ‘leak’ took, given that the White House is denying knowledge.

The fact that it is an ongoing US convention that all presidents, even Nixon, continue to be referred to as President in perpetuity, speaks volumes about your knowledge regarding the things you choose to discuss.

Ah fair enough, didn't know that!

It'll be interesting to see what's been taken, the CES visited a couple of months ago

    https://www.justice.gov/nsd/sections-offices

    Counterintelligence and Export Control Section

The Counterintelligence and Export Control Section (CES) supervises the investigation and prosecution of cases affecting national security, foreign relations, and the export of military and strategic commodities and technology. The Section has executive responsibility for authorizing the prosecution of cases under criminal statutes relating to espionage, sabotage, neutrality, and atomic energy. It provides legal advice to U.S. Attorney's Offices and investigative agencies on all matters within its area of responsibility, which includes 88 federal statutes affecting national security. It also coordinates criminal cases involving the application of the Classified Information Procedures Act. In addition, the Section administers and enforces the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938 and related disclosure statutes.

So if it's related to that visit it seems as if it's something very serious..

I' stick my neck out and say its not very serious and ghey are going to try to get some kind of prosecution going on a procedure, just to make out something is happening. That will require the democrats of the US to suspend their disbelief of what is going on just anothet couple of years in the jope that this wi be the one that actually gets "him".

Do you guys still say that sleep walking into fascism won't happen any time soon?

If only people could step back for a moment and see what is going on. Clinton admitted destroying classified dicuments, Obama has, it is claimed, over 30 million tucked away at his residence. Yet Trump has undergone two impeachments, the recent joke of a Jan 6 Committee, and they still haven't got anything on him, not to mention the myriad of other cases that have been trolling along and collapsing.

The Dems have set a precedent that they will not be prepared to tolerate if it is used against them.

I am just wondering how they are going to reject the election when it happens. Because they cannot afford a pro MAGA Republican party turning the tables on an FBI, DOJ and executive that demonstrably lies through its nose and appears as corrupt as anything the lushest of "banana" republics can offer.

Sorry, is that talking about Joe Biden?

    :):):):)

Reads great in isolation, but when subject to facts, the law, reality and the alternatives, it is just a pile of dog s**t.

Expressing regret by taking the mickey out of the fact that everyone can see through the BS - not being a part of the democrat fantasy world - is a bit like the king deciding to create a catalogue for his new clothing range.

Do any of you think this is anything but an attempt to stop Trump running again?

If you think that using the DOJ and FBI is justified in such a political action, then you are either sleep walkers or openly supportive of fascism.

Not accusing you of being fascists. Just describing what your stated opinions appear to be indicating.

It is quite revealing, and a bit scary, how the Trump cult are still trying to defend his actions. Is there anything that can persuade them that he might not be the "good guy" that they think he is?

Even the fact that a life long Republican FBI director is in control of the operation doesn't stop them claiming it's a political attack by the Democrats.

And the defence/excuses Trump has come up with should ring alarm bells in their heads....surely?

The documents didn't exist. Then they existed but they weren't sensitive. Then he claimed he had handed them all back. Then, after the raid, he claimed the documents were planted. And then they were declassified anyway.

So they didn't exist but were planted and declassified...all at the same time?!

Really, how do cult members square this in their heads? It's the same logic the Johnson cultists must use when they still believe he was a great PM and should be given the job back!

Agreed. Trump cultists are similar to those who still lick Johnson's backside over here. No rationality despite the evidence continually piling up against him - if he took a dump in the middle of their living room carpet, they'd still defend him.
